Water changes should be done weekly, and by throwing away your cartridges you are getting rid of all the good bacteria. What kind of filter is it? Some have separate sponges that stay in the filter to help keep you cycled.

Plenty of water changes. In my experience thats the best thing for torn and nipped fins. :)

the 10g may be too small for more than one ram. In my opinion( Im no expert) they would be fine with the other fish you have in the 29g with out you needing to remove anything but stick to 2. Hope this helps. I have a pair that I found at Pet supplies plus and Petco will order them in if you ask!

I either pour onto a decoration or in my small tanks I put my other hand on the top of the water and pour onto it. I use gallon jugs to fill the little tanks though.

Petco is about 5 mins away and is where the plants have been coming from they dont get a whole lot of selection though. I had read somewhere(dont remember where, it was during a google fest)that the tube plants werent aquatic so have been avoiding those. I will have to write the names of them...

I would worry more about the high nitrAtes. Fish can adapt to higher PH, but Im not familiar with some of your fish or the ferts so maybe someone else can help with that part. Needs a water change to get those nitrAtes down though.

Well, all eggs have hatched and the underside of the sponge filter is full! :lol: Picked up a 19L tub today that will be tall enough for the filter and give them more water and space on bottom. Just have to ok it with my other half to move the 'real' tank out and have this on the counter...

Got up this morning and checked my eggs and I have around 11 that have hatched!! The final count of good eggs is 41. The ones that have hatched are the 11 that fell off the glass onto the bottom of the tank too, was expecting those to fungus! They are all hiding under the sponge filter but...

Can you stuff a piece of sponge back there? Someone with experience with that filter may know what to do but for the time being if the space is occupied by sponge at least they cant get stuck! Sorry to hear about your fighter. :sad:
