    1 ft Marine Tank

Me neither, I was just poking fun as indicated by the smiley. :P I'm not trying to discourage you at all, just wondered what lighting you were planning.

    java-plants.com

Java plants have been fine for a couple of orders from me. I think they make an order from abroad based on what people have ordered that week, so sometimes it might take a while. Although I did get some nasty aquatic caterpillars as hitchhikers which devoured most of my plants. They were mayfly...

    Help

Well why don't you measure your tank and get the biggest tube without overhanging the ends?

    1 ft Marine Tank

5G is quite a lot for a 12" tank isn't it? A standard 12x6x8 is 2.5G. Good luck to you but i'd suggest reading up a bit more if you don't know what LS and LR are! :P What lighting are you planning? IIRC a carpet anemone is one that requires pretty strong lighting such as MH or quite a few PCs.

    how many tanks

Those groups are a bit vague methinks, '41+' means everything above 40, and most people are going to have 1-5 therefore you should have 1,2,3,4,5. :P I have 3.

Help on 12 gal Nano cube

Here's a couple of stock Nano-cubes, to give you an idea of what can be achieved without any modification or further equipment. The second even keeps all of the original bio-media in the back. http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthread...highlight=stock...

    UK meeting date

Well I still need to drive over 50 miles to get on a decent train. Anyway, has it even been decided where the meet is yet?

I'd suggest something like Adtrader or Freeads online if you are in the UK.

    UK meeting date

Yeah exactly, everyone will be on the road clogging it up!
  15. C

    UK meeting date

Umm, why is it bank holiday weekend? Don't you realise that means it's going to be harder for everyone to travel because the roads are going to be packed all weekend.

    found a site

I wouldn't bother with it, it looks rubbish, not professional in the slightest, and on top of that it's a free service and is plastered in ads. There's a lot of better sites out there, with some actual traffic where your ad has a chance of being seen.

    The nonLFS is AWESOME!

30 miles!! OMG thats so far away! </sarcasm> ;) My closest one is 20 miles, but I don't like that one, so the closest really is around 50.

    A platy is born...

    Hehe, great music ;)
  22. C

    How often and how much...

10% every week, for no reason other than the fish seem to like all the crap that gets stirred up, as the nitrates are always < 5ppm. Tapwater nitrates are 10ppm, then the tank brings it down over the course of a week.

question on lighting on a new reef

You answered your own question really, a 50/50 tube is half and half, usually actinic and 10k.

Why don't you plot a map of everyone who wants to go and pick a central location. :P

    Underwater Camera

Try this wireless camera, you'd need a video capture card for your PC to make it into an internet camera, but just for the TV it should work, not sure that the signal will work underwater though. IIRC it doesn't, but i've ordered one and will try it. :)

Starting a Nano-Cube Salt water tank

I'd suggest heading over to nano-reef.com, they have a lot of articles and then theres the forums which contain a wealth of information.

    Buying Fish Online.

Guaranteed next day delivery before 12 would cost that for most things of that weight anyway, disregarding the care they have to take packing the fish.

    Making a moonlight effect

I agree with LL here. If they were wired as per the first diagram, each LED would have 12v across it, which would result in dead LEDs!

    Trimar - What happened?

Oooh I hope they have a proper ecommerce system now, although it'd probably cost me less than the £10 postage to drive there and back. ryan, have you got a link for Wholesale Tropicals?

    Blackwater extract & pH

I've already got pieces of driftwood, trouble is i've been using the same bits in my tanks for a couple of years already, so they don't leech anything into the water anymore.

    Blackwater extract & pH

I've been trying to create kind of a South American community tank with my 34g. So far I have Rummy Nose Tetra (H. Bleheri), Cardinals, Cory Sterbai and Apisto. Agassizii, and have plans for Marbled Hatchets eventually. The plants are somewhat of a mix and match so they don't count. :D I've...

    Aqaurium Moonlight

You need to know the specifications of the LED and you need to use an appropriate resistor based on that and the voltage of the mains adapter you wish to use. Then you can just wire each LED in parallel, each with its own resistor.

    Eggs on plants

Maybe they had aquatic caterpillars? The caterpillar shaped larvae that I had in my tank eating the plants turned out to be mayfly larvae, but still, there is such a thing as an aquatic caterpillar.
  36. C

    Aqaurium Moonlight

I wouldn't say more than £5. I used 4 blue LEDs with a resistor each, and an old Nokia phone charger as power a supply.
  37. C

    Aqaurium Moonlight

After seeing this I decided to build my own moonlighting, looks great, and best of all it was made from bits I had lying around.

do you have a betta, yes/no

What about 'I don't have one but I want one' ?

    South American community tank

Great tank, i'm going for a South American community too, except for plants! :D What do you use for the night lighting?

    My web site V3

I don't like it. Frames are what people in the computer stone age used to use, they look awful, especially with big thick grey borders. Also i'd recommend sorting out the awful spelling and grammar, it's clear you've made an effort with capital letters and full stops, but it doesn't really make...
