thanks for the reply kat.... I've got 6-8 P. Saulosi due tomorrow but they cannot guarantee the m to f ratio although the have said they'll try to get only 1 male. If theres more i'll have to get rid and replace with females.

I've had juvie convicts with black neons before and they were fine. not sure if they'll behave when they mature though. I have blue acara's in the same tank at the mo and they seem to be getting on fine.

Im going to be after 2m and 8f Pseudotropheus Saulosi soon if anybody has or knows of anywhere with some good stock, preferably F1's thanks Lee

thanks dthoffsett. yeh i was doing a little more research on them last night and there are a few sites that list them as 'dwarf' as they appear to only get to around 4". As i say i was hoping to go for around 10 fish in the tank so shall i go for 10 p.saulosi with only 1 male? any thoughts?

i had origanally thought of Pseudotropheus demasoni but i liked the idea of keeping a small number of Pseudotropheus saulosi as the male and female are both lovely colours instead of the same.. what other 'dwarf' species are there????

i've got mixed african cichlids in my larger tank but now i wanna change my 180 rio community tank to a malawi tank... only think that the dwarf species like desmo's will suit though :(..

well the yellow labs are for cetain then... i should have taken a pad and pen to jot down the names of the fish we saw earlier... :( think i'll head back up the lfs tuesday and get the ball rolling and then have the issue of also picking some cats or plecs to go in the tank lol..... are red...

Yup, demasoni should be kept in groups of 12+ or as a single specimen. Your girlfriend has good taste as labs/dems are a stunning combo. I agree, auratus are lovely looking but they are very aggressive and IMO shouldn't be sold in the hobby. The worst part with them is they may get along...

nope not forgotten and about 10ml of ammonia dosed for 2nite. my gf want some yellow labs and demasoni (although reading up i think i can only keep 1 or 12+). i guess i shouldn't include Melanochromis Auratus in a stocking list then? shame as i like them.......

yeh i really need to clean the keeps as they were inhibiting flow through the filter. as i said i've kept the old pads in the filter to hopefully share the bacteria :)
