i have a betta that has been sick, clamped fins, ripped fins and he still builds crazy bubblenests regardless. weird, idk why he does it. im not sure if nests are actual signs of their physical health, maybe it just means their content even if they are sick :unsure:

i use neon tetras in mine and my crowntail is fine. he may chase them once in a while but they can outrun him. most of the time they all just go about their business. ive read/heard certain gouramis are ok like dwarf or blue gouramis.

what kind of tank setup do you have out of curiosity?seems like you dont have a full hood, more like a glass lid with external lighting?ive been wanting something simplistic and affordable like lid without giant heavy hood. i have a crowntail too, they seem more active than standard veiltails...
