    Algae in my tank.

Hi there. I seem to have an algae problem since getting a new lighting system in my tank. I was posting a while ago about trouble with getting my plants to grow, well now they are doing fine but i have lots of red / brown algae on some of them. My new system is called Fluval Aquasky and comes...

Thank you AbbeysDad. I'm not lucky enough to live in the country unfortunately, I have a hotel in the middle of a town. (But I do live 50yds from the beach so not so bad lol ). I have bought some filter media for my fluval 305 that claims to absorb nitrates send nitrites, and put it in last...

No reply from Abbeys Dad. But I have found a filter media for my fluval 305 that 'claims' to filter out nitrate and nitrite. So we'll see what happens. I have put them in tonight.

    Plant problems

I've messaged Abbeys Dad. I need to replace one of my filter media as the one in a bag has burst. If he managed to use filtration the maybe he can advise me what to replace it with. When I looked into it some of them are not advised for planted aquariums.

Oh and I've ordered the fertilizers you all recommended. The liquid one I have.... would that do any good in a cold water goldfish tank with just elodia and goldfish. There is no lighting just a filter. Just thought my son could put it to use so it wasn't wasted lol.

    Plant problems

Okay dokey so I need to test my tap water (after the tapsafe stuff is in). Get some substrate fertilizers as the fluorite is rubbish lol. Not worry about the co2 for now. Get flourish comprehensive supplement next time. Does that sound about right Byron. Xx

    Plant problems

OK here goes. I'll do my best to answer your questions. The lighting is the one you recommend (that you have in your tank the same size 3ft) I used a good inch of fluorite plant substrate under the Gravel which has a composition of Aluminum - 10,210 mg/kg Barium - 124 mg/kg Calcium - 195...

Also. I did put a plant substrate under the Gravel when I set it up. I give 2 bursts of CO2 per day and I give a monthly dose of the liquid nutrients in the picture as per instructions on the bottle.

    Plant problems

Hi again. OK so I seemed to get the lighting right and most things are going great including multiple births of guppies lol My new issue is that my new plants are starting to go brown on the edges of the leaves. I did but low light ones. I have done a water test and everything is spot on other...

    Guppy Fry

Hi there. I have some guppy fry in my planted community tank which are doing way better than I thought they would. Survival of the fittest has still left me with several 4 week olds. My concern is that if they all survive what do I do with them? I was banking on being lucky if just one survived.

    Plant problems

Hi Byron. I have found the hagen life glo. And they seem to be advising that I use it in combination with the Hagen flora glo which I don't mind doing if it will be better. I'll just need to buy a double fitting that's all. What do you think. X

    How much light?

Hi there. I have a 140ltr tropical tank and I'm having trouble with my plants. I was recently advised on here that my lighting was wrong. I have since bought a strip light that said was for fish and plants. It is a 30" interpet daylight bulb. I think it's 25w (that bit has worn off a bit ) since...

What could be eating my plant?

I've found the following strip light on amazon. Do you think it will do to use that and get rid of the Aquaray set up. Arcadia - Original Tropical (25W 750mm 26mm)

What could be eating my plant?

Thank you for your reply. I will do my best but I inherited the tank from my mother on law who used to keep marine. It has a normal strip light but I'm not sure of wattage . And two other lights which I found instructions for which says they are an Aquaray solid state lighting system 500 duo...
