Nice buy! I don't care to personally own albino fish of any sort, but that is a nice one! Odd. At any moment, I can see the majority of my BNs when I take a look. They don't hide when I come up to the tank, either.

For BNs? Algae discs and veggies (such as zucchini) will pretty much take care of them. If you are asking about otos, I have no clue.

My clowns have never bothered any of their tankmates, which are all catfishes or plec types.

I think pitbulls would be the way to go. Maybe one BN.

6 common BNs (2 definite males) and 1 calico BN (male). The calico is really nice-looking. Will see if I can get a good picture soon.

I would start with about 30lbs of sand and go from there. I personally don't like to put a lot of substrate in tanks, so that is the route I would take.

The raphael should be fine in there. However, if those clown loaches grow anywhere near as large as they can, your tank will be far too crowded. They can reach up to 18" each...

You're right. They are skunk corys. I always wanted the pandas but ended up with these guys instead. I love 'em, but still tend to project the other name on them on accident.

I just realized that this thread encompasses all catfish/bottom dwellers. Some of my others: hillstream loach: banjos: my 4 panda corys on move-in day: SA bumblebees: striped raphael: spotted raphael and my little eclipse/sun cat: and my pride and joy, my ~8 in. eclipse/sun cat...

Okay.... does it look like damage to you? Illness? Or simple stress coloration, as I suspect? Not trying to be a jerk, but your observation is next to useless unless you elaborate.

Are you referring to the 3rd BN down, the close-up? If so, I think that is stress coloration. He looks great now that he is settled in.

You are right in planning on upgrading the tank. I disagree with the above poster that a 75 g tank will provide adequate space for 4 clown loaches and 10-20 tiger barbs. The loaches alone can reach 16-18" and since they are in a group, a 75 will not be enough eventually. I've included a link...

$30. I almost didn't do it, but knew that I would not find a better deal on "exotic" plecos in my area. In the end, I'm very happy that I dropped that cash for him. :hyper:

It sounds to me, good sir, that you are ready to roll. Of course, I am sure that you plan on starting with just a few fish and working your way up to whatever you want your "full" stock to be. Keep us posted!

I would run the tests for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate after adding ammonia one more time. I would err on the safe side, but it sounds like you did something similar to what I recently did - vastly cut down on cycling time by using "old" filter media. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. From what I read, the folks that are pointing to the polystyrene background are probably right. The plastic tank backgrounds that I tape to the back of the tank aren't exactly fulfilling, but they are better than plain wall and I know they won't harm my fish.
