I don't know if it's a she either just thought I'd give it a gender. My parameters are ammonia & nitrite 0, nitrate 12.5, pH 7.2, gH 6-10. Haven't seen it eating today.

It is worth checking ebay for tanks, there's plenty about and I know of a few people who've had real bargains off there.

They get flake, bloodworm (frozen) and some granular food. As far as I know all the poop is fine, haven't seen anything unusual.

Just thought I'd post some pics of my first tank. It's a 48x15x12 tank with 5 lemon tetras, 3 khuli loaches, 2 black phantom tetras, 2 pakistani loaches, 2 clown loaches, 2 honey gouramis and a bristlenose catfish.

Bristlenoses are cheap and easy too.

Bristlenose catfish are great algae eaters but I don't know how they cope with the cold. Fine in tropical though.

I'd love to know how they 'determined' fish had a 20sec memory. There's no realistic way to measure it IMO. I think they have a reasonably good memory and certainly feel pain. Until recently it was believed that even cats and dogs didn't feel pain! Some vets will still tell you they don't -...

Actually cartilage doesn't heal all that well. Once it's lost it's hard to replace (certainly in a dog's joints anyway) and that's why we get arthritis.
