If you were to start an LFS....

My LFS has a great idea, which I would certainly use. They give oput free starter leaflets, (nothing fancy, just done on MS word), for freshwater, saltwater and coldwater, explaining cycling thoroughly as well as some good starter fish. They also have a poster on the wall showing the fish they...

Ram Questions froma a cichlid newbie

Hey, I am looking to get some more fish, because as you can see in my sig, my tank hasn't got a lot in it. I was wondering whether I could have a ram or two with the fish I already have. I understand that they need a cave. Would they be alright with zebra loaches as well, because i am...

New fish owner requires fish identification

If they look like this or this then you have a dyed fish. I would keep it and try to make it's life as happy as possible before it dies. After all, it is not the fishes fault that they are dyed.

    The Rainbow Bridge

Oscar A beautiful British Cream cat, I wish I had a picture. I had had him since I was three, I named him, and looked after him and his brother Henry. When he was nine, we lost him for three days, looked everywhere around our street and we finally found him. :-( He had been killed by a fox. :-(...

    Help please.

The tank is two years old. When I got it I didn't know about fishless cycling, so I cycled with the danios. To get rid of the algae i didn't use chemicals, I just gradually introduced more real plants to starve the algae out. The amonia and nitrite levels have been like that for a while. The...

    Help please.

I have a 30 gallon(uk) tank and recently, a lot of fish have died. I do weekly, 20% water changes, and my test results(keep in mind this is about an hour before I do my water change so Nitrates might be a little high) Amonia= 0.2 mg/litre Nitrite=0.15 mg/litre Nitrate=30mg/litre pH=7 and a bit...

    Why do you keep fish?

What keeps me going is an attempt to recreate an environment, something inpossible for most other pets. Also, it is my Corys, they are to fun and cute to stop buying more and more tanks for them.

    my tank

I think that you won't be able to use an undergravel filter with sand.(Not sure) :/ Edit-=sorry you said black gravel. I don't know a lot about UGravelm filters, but I think that all your biological filtration i.e bacteria is in your gravel, so changing it would make a difference.
