Tank Water Is Red In Color!

No, we didn't half the doasge. I didn't know that we had to, I was told that it wouldn't harm the other fish  No, we don't have any wood in the tank. Must be that there was too much meds. We went to our LFS and they said the color was due to the meds, so I guess we shall see. Don't...

Tank Water Is Red In Color!

Earlier we this week we had a sick cory. We treated the tank with bacterial meds and during the treatment the water was a little yellow in color which the meds said could happen. Unfortunately, the sick cory did not make it. Once the treatment was finished the water turned red the next day...

unfortunately, we didn't notice any smell....... But, I did forget to mention that when we did see the tank, for whatever reason the filter was not working (the wheel was not spinning). My husband did get it restarted. I am wondering if that was off for a good part of the day while we were at...

    Albino Cory Cat

I am sorry to say after all your help, the cory did not make it. Is it normal to have a fish die every so often? Should I assume that we don't need to treat the water again this evening for the last treatment? Now, how do I make sure the water is OK for the rest of the fish?? I am at a loss...

    Albino Cory Cat

ok, how do you make sure there is plenty of oxygen?? The meds said to dose the tank 2 times, change 25% of the water and do 2 more applications (each one was daily) is it a bad thing that it is laying on its side??

    Albino Cory Cat

Last night was the 3rd of 4 treatments for the tank. We also did a 25% water change as the directions said and tested the water. The cory is still holding on and moving around a little bit. How long should it take to know if it will get better and/or to know if the tank needs more treatments...

    Albino Cory Cat

So, do you recomend that we test the water daily? The meds we have need to be put in 3 more times (API TC Tetracycline). I believe the box said to do water changes while giving the meds, I assume that is supposed to help the levels? Can you explain what you mean that we may need to filter...

    Albino Cory Cat

Well we have treated the water with bacterial meds for the 1st time. The cory is still is hanging in there, although not moving around much. We also got some shrimp pellets for the corries to eat. We also noticed that the sick cory looks like it has tail rot too. Will keep you posted. Thanks...

    Albino Cory Cat

THanks for the explanation. I am assuming the bacteria meds won't harm the other fish? Also, do you have a 2nd suggestion for what meds to get in case they don't have your 1st choice? I know that asking someone at the store isn't always the best thing to do.

OK, well we have never needed to give the fish meds. Do I need to take it out of the tank?

    Albino Cory Cat

There are 2 albino and the other I don't recall it's name. It is gray and black. I wouldn't mind getting more cories, but don't think I have enough room in the tank. No, unforuntately I do not. You have helped me in the past with other fish and the readings at those times and in between...

    Albino Cory Cat

I didn't know they also needed something other than algae wafers, so I will get some today. We do give the fish some dried shrimp every so often. I don't believe that this Cory was in from the beginning. They weren't put in until the tank was about a month or so old. Is this a good time to...

    Help Is Needed

Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated. How long should we wait to get another fish? It has been VERY hot and humid here since Friday, although I didn't think the temperature went too high on the fish tank. I will make sure to keep an eye on that also in the future.

yes, at this point he told me to feed the other fish some more cooked frozen peas. I hadn't heard back yet from him/her and was going to be at the pet store so didn't know what I we should do. We will wait to get another fish in a few weeks. Just afraid of the rest getting sick. Thanks for...

Question, on the other forum it was thought the fished died from something bacterial. If that is the case, do you know what I need to do so the other fish do not get sick? Also, can the pet store test for bacteria in the water? And is it safe to get a new fish to place the cory that died...

I am not at home to look closely at that fish at the momentbut will and respond later regarding it. We have not lost any fish to bent spines. We can do some more peas. Should we do the regular food too, or just give them peas for a few days? That is what helps if it is bacterial? So it be...

    Help Is Needed

Well, that albino cory was found dead this morning. Not sure really what was wrong. If it was internal parasites, how do I keep the other fish from getting it? Also, can the water be tested for such things? Are we able to get a new fish to replace it, or is it unsafe?

    Help Is Needed

Does it matter that the white poo came from a different fish, or does it just get in the water? We did put some cooked peas in the tank. The other fish ate them, but I don't think the one we are concerned about did. The albino cory does look more pale than the other. It seems that when it...

    Help Is Needed

There are 3 adult and 1 baby platys, 7 neon tetras and 3 cory cats. I don't recall seeing any sores on the belly of the cory. It was on the bottom part of the filter near the bottom of the tank where it pulls the water in. We have a biowheel filter, I think it is called. We feed them the...

Well, the baby fish is out and about swimming the tank, so it seems to be doing well. We tested the water last night and everything is good except for the PH. It is the highest color on the card that came with the test kit (API). My husband did it, so I can't recall the number. What are we...
