UPDATE 27.01 Thankfully a super kind member from the forum donated some filter media and four blue acara. Before adding the media i checked parameters. Ammonia - 2 PH - 8 NitrAte - 4 NitRite - 4 Temp 80 TAP Water - 7.7PH, Ammonia 0, NitrAte 0, NitRite 0. Added matured media and did a 50%...

Looking for ideas's folks, What is the general option on what community sits well with Blue Acara ? Also what would you suggest from a plant wise ? Cheers Morph

Had the same problem with mine mate, Put Gravel in last friday........Then took it all out Monday and replaced with Argos Playsand !!! Only just settled yesterday...THANKFULLY !!!! :rolleyes:

Update 26/01/12 Temp now at 80, Ammonia Still 4ppm, checked PH and its 7.8. Is the PH level ok or should i try and increase, if so, how best to increase the PH ? 24.01.12 - Ammonia 4, Temp 78 - Cloudyness totally cleared up after putting in playsand 25.01.12 - As Above Rgds, Morph

Hi Littlenemo, Im getting there buddy, ordered more bioballs and sponges, Still hopefull that i dont need to put another filter in my sump, I have access to a fluval 405 but think that will be a bit exessive ! Cycle process is slow...Ammonia still sitting at 4ppm

Update 23/01/12 Removed all the gravel, and replaced with playsand from Argos...What a steal that was, under £3 for a 15kg bag. Added sand but water still looks really cloudy...Hope it clears up soon :sad: Temp 72 Ammonia 4ppm Morph

Thanks Oldman47 for that info. I have an API Ammonia test kit, thats what i used yesterday. The other kits are salifert. Is 500g of the Biomax rings enough they sit at the very bottom of my sump right ? Morph

I added ammonia ( reading at 4 ) Will check again tomorrow and advise. Is the sump now ok with the media i have in there ? Wondered if i needed more of the biomax ? Also my gravel in the tank, should it be a min depth, its approx 20mm thick Morph

Ahhhhh, i see....Sorry if i sounded dumb, i didnt totally understand what i could or couldnt do with my LR. Anyway this afternoon i had a total revamp. I removed the LR from the tank, the sand, the skimmer, the ReFresh and LR Rubble from the sump. I went to my LFS and traded in my LR for Fluval...

Another thought, if i remove the live rock im then removing my filteration (berlin method). So i would then need a canister ? Am i right in thinking that ? I thought going back to trops was going to be easy..lol :blush: Morph
