mine was giving birth earlier today ... she had at least ten in tank b4 i put her in breeding trap .... when i came home from work , not including the dead ones and bent spine couple ... i had 50 :)

i just got one bottle of esha 2000 , which is for fungus , finrot and bacteria ... .and also esha exit which is for velevet and whitespot . you can use these two together .. and from what i found so far i am impressed ....

ive got a young male guppy which has a luminous yellow tail , and is starting to show the colour on his sides too ... will have to try and get a pic , he is soooo cute

I Was just about to post asking exactly the same thing , i have a mickey mouse platy like this , and the anal swelling bit , pooing fine etc . nothing else strange . but she is a giant fish i swear./ Hopefully she due to give birth then , as i havent had any babies from her yet !!

i had a mysterious guppy death and fish didnt look right .. i decided to remove my bogwood , and now there are fine . i steralised it a few weeks ago etc . and when i examined closely after i had removed from tank , it was rotting :S

how long is it normally to their next drop ? i think they have eaten some but at least the best will survive . i can see 4 hiding without trying to look hard . i have had the fish two weeks . my housemate was just as excited as me waiting for them to drop , thing is she went away for work today...

is my guppies which are giving birth . the thing is all 4 pregnant females seem to be giving birth at same time . is this normal ?? i'm letting nature take its course as a few plants for fry to hide in etc , and i dont wanna be over run with them but its soooo amazing to watch so ...

another problem now . just checked stats all normal . my white or blue whatever its classed as female mickey mouse platy , has darkened in colour and is hiding away . her scales seem to be protruding a bit , i suspect internal bacteria , but i treated tank for swim bladder last night i cant...

he is now gone :( i have noticed his tail and fins clamped up , which they hadnt before

well he in the breeding trap and i have treated the whole tank with a swim bladder thing ( just rushed to PAH) . he is still breathing and moving a little more . i have put some bloodworms in for him too , he still seems interested in trying to swim . just see how it goes i suppose . maybe...

my blue fancy guppy is very weak . all stats are fine , tank been fully cycled , and had my fish for two weeks . my blue guppy has been smaller that my other male guppy , i just thought it was young . now he can hardly swim , looks like his bottom fins are clammped and he cannot swim properly...

i ordered mine on seapets website , for £199 including cabinet and filter , heater and some other stuff . i should of posted really before about it , i guess its too late now lol

go to the cleaning product section in homebase , and you will find a bottle of ammonia (homebase brand ) with a blue label . its 1.99 and its what most use for the fishless cycling .

erm about 2 of the 4 weeks , in fact the nitrites were finished processing in last few days . and i couldnt believe how quickly they disappeared

yep i have live plants . i mean when you said when ammonia is processing in 12 hours its cycled , i think you meant NITRITE too not being picky sorry if any offense taken :) EDIT , sp error i meant my nitrite processing in 12 hours :unsure: sorry !

im afraid your wrong , it has to go down to 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite in 12 hours or about that . in my post i mean that nitrate is processing now in about 12 hours . ammonia has been processing in 12 hours for about a couple of weeks now

just checked nitrite and it has rose a little bit . i guess as the ammonia is processing . as i just added it up to 4.9 am i nearly cycled guys ?

i thought i would keep to this thread as will make it a bit easier . i havent been writing down my recordings as nothing changed , adding ammonia to 4.9ppm. i just checked my kit , and have no ammonia ( normal until i add daily ) , 0 nitrite , and slight nitrate . i thought i would check...

i felt it too , thought someone had closed a door in my house as i normally feel it vibrating through the walls , but housemate asleep in bed . i live in suffolk i felt something again at about 1.50 .

try highways nursery , its on the road to norwich from beccles . (the garden centre) their fish selection , and how they treat them is really good . they have platties there

the highest reading on my colour chart for liquid test kit is 3.3 :unsure:

you may think im being a little impatient but i have just done an 80% water change as my water was stained with tannins , and i thought maybe it could help lower my nitrites which are still off the chart . (kept filter wet in tank water ) i tested teh nitrites again and they are still off the...

looks like a little pine cone . don't know how it could of got in though

thanks for your help . at least there will be light at the end of the tunnel eventually . plenty of time to learn about some fish then lol . you don't realise how much you actually learn about fishless cycling until your doing it .

thanks for your reply , and to rDD1952 , it's nice when people are so helpful . as long as it is going in the right direction . also im going on holiday for a weekend in 2 weeks and was hoping it would be all finished by then so my housemate could just check on the fish instead of worrying...

i havent really been testing the nitrates apart from when i did the water change which reduced them significantly. i know being patient will make it all worth while in the end , but its just soo boring seeing nothing really happening . just gotta focus on how happy the fish will be when i get...

i did the 90% water change on the day i posted this . i have been adding up to 4ppm of ammonia and it is processing in less that 12 hours . (been topping up each day ) so it's been 7 days and my nitrites are still off the chart . (even though its hard to read on my colour chart ) any ideas...

that happens to me , i just leave them and they go within a few hours normally

i have used seapets (www.seapets.co.uk) i think address is . the service was quick and efficient . it only took a week for my tank to come from when i had ordered it when it did say allow 28 days . just thought i'd add if it helped .

so should i say do a 50% water change now then ?

my nitrites were at the top of the chart as 3.3 is the highest on the testing kit chart , but they were only there for 1 day ?? im confused

i have just tested my tap water and it is 5 for nitrate , where as my tank it is still 110 :blink: my ammonia is now at 2.4 and nitrites at 1.6 could anyone shed some light on why my nitrate is so high ?? or is it as its in the middle of fishless cycling ???

i forgot to add that i removed a fair few dead leaves from my plants in tank today , could that be the cause for the high nitrate ??

ok thanks for help , and thanks for noticing typing error lol , i was just about to test my tap water for nitrate , but i may do tomorrow instead. i live in east anglia in england , we have very hard water here , so i wonder if that would affect the nitrate ?? thanks for replying guys :good:

before i write them , i was just wondering if i am doing things right , and if they look as what they should be ?? Ammonia / nitrites / nitrates started 29/02/08 added 7 mls so 4.9ppm /...
