Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a clearout! Currently have a mix of Malawi + Tang in my setup, but looking to clear out all the Malawi species and be left with Tangs, so I can make way for a set of Shellys I'm not sure of the 'value' of these fish to be quite honest, but here is what's included...

Looks good lol I'll just say this though fella... You wana be careful, I had trouble with a sharp rock in my tank, when they're chasing eachother round as you'll know they make snap decisions as to which rock/hole to fly into, might cause some injuries with coral being so sharp!

Whilst we're on the subject of food... Can anyone make comment on this stuff I have? I use it as an 'extra' as it sinks straight to the bottom for my syno's, etc I normally use Tetra-Prima which is like a gritty substance The food I want to know about is apparantly formulated specifically...

You can however, get a Bristlenose which is a 'true' hardwater species. I forget the name, but the plec section on here will help you!

I used Juwel 3d backgrounds. They can be a bit over-priced but do make a big difference. Here's my african setup with the Juwel black background-

Yer. But i was watching the Lake Tanganyika programme on Youtube which explored the species of the lake. Lots of crabs, similar patrolling the base! I'm sure there's a crab somewhere that's mean enough to put up a good fight!

The red/orange rock is called 'spaghetti rock' it's a man-made rock from my LFS. And yer, i think I will mix it in, that's how I had it in my old setup. I'm looking for a suitable plant to grow in the crags etc, but I just can't find anything that the little buggers wont eat or rag to pieces...

It's just over 3 foot long, 2 foot wide/ 180 litres approx. Mainly Lake Tanganyikan species, eg Lamp Leleupi, brichardi, brevis, Gold head compressicep, etc- but also has Pseudotropheus demasoni of Lake Malawi in there, with a pair of Bristle-nose also. Here's some pics-

Yes they do, I used to have some quite heavy smooth gravel in one end of my old tank, my Brichardi used to pick them up one by one and you could hear the 'clunk' has he spat them onto the glass. Ingenious little things!

I'm a tanganikyan man myself... but I guess the same applies. Definitely get another female, even a couple more would do it. I had the same/similar issue with my Neolamprologus Leleupi- I ended up with 3 females and a male, after having just a pair. He still gave chase, but it was distributed...

It can only blow out, what it's taking in. So if the output feels/looks ok then don't worry. Mine don't particularly make much to see around the intakes... sounds fine to me.
