    Fish For Sale (Malawi)

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a clearout! Currently have a mix of Malawi + Tang in my setup, but looking to clear out all the Malawi species and be left with Tangs, so I can make way for a set of Shellys I'm not sure of the 'value' of these fish to be quite honest, but here is what's included...

    Pseudotropheus Demasoni Holding

Appreciate your help. I've got two problems though... a) I wasn't planning on breeding them, it'd just be nice if at least 1 survived b) I can't catch her even if i tried, due to my setup it'd mean stripping the tank bare to catch her, which would be a lot of hassle + she'd probably lose them...

    Pseudotropheus Demasoni Holding

hey guys, got a female holding for the first time. I've got no facility to remove her/separate etc. I'm just wandering, she's currently got eggs in her mouth... what are the chances of the fry surviving in a community tanganiykan (with added demasoni)? Even if it's just 1.... would that be...

    Opthalmotilapia Ventralis 'sumbu'

Hi guys, can't find much info on these fish. Been offered 2 adult males as a random purchase. Does anyone know if they'd be suitable for a Community Tang setup, of around 200 litres... would be together with various species including Leleupi, Leptosoma, Brichardi, Alto Comps etc. Help, I need...

    Coral In My Tanganyikan Tank!

Looks good lol I'll just say this though fella... You wana be careful, I had trouble with a sharp rock in my tank, when they're chasing eachother round as you'll know they make snap decisions as to which rock/hole to fly into, might cause some injuries with coral being so sharp!

    Pellet Food Just Bought.

Whilst we're on the subject of food... Can anyone make comment on this stuff I have? I use it as an 'extra' as it sinks straight to the bottom for my syno's, etc I normally use Tetra-Prima which is like a gritty substance The food I want to know about is apparantly formulated specifically...

You can however, get a Bristlenose which is a 'true' hardwater species. I forget the name, but the plec section on here will help you!

    Goby Cichlids

Ah makes sense. The shop i usually use, he keeps getting them on the stock-list and orders them, but they never arrive... i'm guessing because they're in demand! Sorry for another q, but how do i make contact with my local cichlid society?

Least Painful Way To Put My Platty Out Of Its Misery?

I've used alcohol in the past, it's not the most humane but it's all I had at the time. It was 85% volume, but killed the fish in an instant.

    Tingley Tropicals, Leeds

The Armley pet shop is BAD news. They havn't got a clue what they're talking about the staff, and when you do ask a genuine question about the fish they become very defensive and hostile. Also, I was sold a 'Lamprologus Brichardi' from them, I asked if they'd been bred in Hard water as they're...

    Shell Breeders

Yer, i've kept Shellies for a few years now. I've had most success with: Neolamprologus Brevis But i've also kept Lamprologus Ocellatus, shortly with be getting 2 pairs of Lamprologus Signatus They're dead easy to look after, i've found 'escargot' shells are what they prefer, you can buy...

    Moon-light

Do fish prefer a 'moon light' at night, or total darkness? Now, obviously I can't ask them lol, so what are you experiences? I keep Tanganikyan cichlids, most the species I have are cave dwellers or shell dwellers.... I have a blue LED light on the roof of my tank which shines down behind my...

    Backgrounds

Eh? Whered you get your info from fella lol? If you buy Juwel ones, as above in my pic, the material is black through and through. Secondly, i've used these backgrounds for a few years in different tanks, fish have never 'pecked' away at them lol. Sounds like you've just been getting cheap...

    New Lake Tanganikya Setup

It's not loud noise. If you read above, it's been there for a long time- without no hassle. My fish are some of the 'tamest' fish I've seen, I can even hand-feed 2 of them!

    New Lake Tanganikya Setup

All i've used to keep the rocks together is a bit of clever placement. I've got the foam background on the back pane of glass, so that sort of 'grips' the rocks a little, and Egg crate under the substrate to take some of the weight. Also, the substrate is live sand/crushed coral sand (Aragonite...

A Question For Anyone Keeping African Cichlids

Yer. But i was watching the Lake Tanganyika programme on Youtube which explored the species of the lake. Lots of crabs, similar patrolling the base! I'm sure there's a crab somewhere that's mean enough to put up a good fight!

    New Lake Tanganikya Setup

The red/orange rock is called 'spaghetti rock' it's a man-made rock from my LFS. And yer, i think I will mix it in, that's how I had it in my old setup. I'm looking for a suitable plant to grow in the crags etc, but I just can't find anything that the little buggers wont eat or rag to pieces...

It's just over 3 foot long, 2 foot wide/ 180 litres approx. Mainly Lake Tanganyikan species, eg Lamp Leleupi, brichardi, brevis, Gold head compressicep, etc- but also has Pseudotropheus demasoni of Lake Malawi in there, with a pair of Bristle-nose also. Here's some pics-

Wow My Cichlid Did The Coolest Thing Read This

Yes they do, I used to have some quite heavy smooth gravel in one end of my old tank, my Brichardi used to pick them up one by one and you could hear the 'clunk' has he spat them onto the glass. Ingenious little things!

A Question For Anyone Keeping African Cichlids

I've got a 180litre setup, consisting of various species of Tanganyikans, together with a pair of Bristlenose. My question is, you never see crabs, crustaceans for sale to live within african community setups? Are any more well known aquarium crabs, shrimps, etc etc compatible/able to live...

Kribs Going Through Stressfull Divorce! Help Please

I'm a tanganikyan man myself... but I guess the same applies. Definitely get another female, even a couple more would do it. Not Sure My Fluval 305 Is Working Properly
