well i had a blackout catastrophe, and now i have nothing in my tank save 1 rainbow shark and 2 bettas. and i kinda like their slow swimming style. any more fish like that?

honeythorn i have to know what fish is that purple and yellow one in your signature! I have no idea what my rainbow shark eats, he just seems to graze at algae in my tank occasionally eating some flake food that sank.

oddly my two rest over bettas are best of buds... they're not even fighting or anything, they even hide in the coconut shell together

Ack my water is turning green again. I made a 70% water change, because I thought it was a nutrients, and it was clear for two days and now its turning green again. what do i do? stop feeding? blackout?

i had bad experiances with marililand 350 power filter. thing works, just really really loud, like the motor is going to explode. It sounds like there's a lack of water in the container, when its full. so no idea what it was.

i think he's talking about the peasized gravels. but yea, some cheaper brands do flake, and some just use a bunch of dust and glue them together to try and hold.

are you sure its not the java moss growing? because i know the moss does have some very fine small leaves and makes it look furry.

i like java moss if you have any big rocks or anything, since they're so easy to care for.

are ottos that good? sometimes i hear they don't really do their job, especially when they also add to the bioload.

What's a good easy to use CO2 system for a 55 gallon. I'm scared to DIY and make one since I'm completely new to the co2. The ones i saw at petsmart and petco are only up to 40 gallons, and they seem easy to use with their fizz tablets. anyone have a good easy to use brand?

i think the white ribbon isn't a true aquatic, but i'm not 100%. And your 7 neons should be fine. looks good to me

it's perfectly normal. By removing them you actually probably made it worse. The barbs are just fighting amongst each other for pack dominance. after a day or two they'll settle down. Just let them fight, they won't kill each other.

i've been told it's black beard algea and having a lack of CO2 causes it. so having a CO2 system would help eventually get rid of the stuff on the plants. I haven't gotten my CO2 system yet, but I'm still shopping around and going to try it out.

sorry took so long to reply. basically its used water bottles cut in 1/2 long side and siliconed on a slate. Then a bunch of rocks siliconed on the bottles and finally some java moss (i think it is...) on the rocks tied down with fishing line.

I believe its diatoms or brown algae. any method of getting rid of it? ya, my tank is rather new, about 1 month and i know its common on new tanks, but is there ways to keep it to a minimum? my rainbow shark seems to like the stuff though... click on the picture to view full size image
