Liam's answer sounds the most plausible. But how long have you had them for? They moult their exo-skeletons every 3-4 months and are very vunerable indeed during this time. I'm not sure if the shrimp moult simultaneusly, but if that is the case then the slightest knock from your fish is enough...

Thanks! They're all live plants, although I don't know the name of any of them. With the plants, I've simply chose the ones I liked and rooted them in the sand. A few species died, but the ones you can see are thriving.

Do you have a ph reading? Sometimes when the ph drops too low (e.g., below 6ish), then the Ammonia eating bacteria will cease. This can be easily rectified easily, but do you have said ph reading?

Maybe the problem could be with the Rams. If a female is pregnant (you have both genders, after all), they can be very territorial.
