    Strange Co2 Numbers

To accurately measure CO2 you need to use a drop checker. Go here for a good explanation of how they work http://www.barrreport.com/estimative-index...rs-why-how.html You are correct that other items in the tank can effect PH.

    Suggested Co2 Bubble Rate

I am using a nutrafin kit. With their mixture I was getting about 6 bubbles per minute. I made my own mixture and am now getting about 20 bubbles per minute. For some reason I am getting very little absorption now. With the nutrafin mixture the change in bubble size as they went up the ladder...

    Suggested Co2 Bubble Rate

I have a 24 gallon planted aquapod. I am injecting CO2 but my drop checker has not arrived yet. What should my bubble count be per minute to get around 30ppm of CO2. I understand I wont know exactly until I am able to use the drop checker but I need somewhere to start.

    Keeping Rams In Hard Water

I would like to get some german blue rams but I have fairly hard water. My GH is around 14. Will the rams be able to adapt if I acclimate them slowly or is it a lost cause. I know it would be better to use RO water but it would be much easier if the fish are able to adapt to my tap water. The...

    Ei Questions

I have read the thread on using fertilizers and EI. I understand how it works. When I plug the recommended amounts of potassium phosphate into a calculator them seem very high. For example, in a 10-20 gallon tank 1/32 of a teaspoon of KH2PO4 should be added three times a week. From chucks...

    Snail Eaters

Yoyo loaches or zebra loaches would work better than clown loaches as they stay around 5-6''. You could also try Badis Badis or an upside down catfish. Remember that pretty much anything that will eat snails will also eat shrimp if you have any. Your tank is too small for clown loaches.

    Snail Eating Fish

Are there any community fish that will eat snails or at least keep them under control but not eat shrimp?

    Are Discus Tolerant Of Fertilizers

I would like to have a planted tank with discus. Will the discus be tolerant of adding phosphates and nitrates. I have heard they are sensitive to nitrates. How would keeping the nitrates at 20ppm do for the fish and the plants?

How To Eliminate Chlorine During Water Changes

In big tanks how do you eliminate chlorine from the water and still do an efficient water change? In a small tank it is easy to remove the required water and put the new water in a bucket and add chlorine neutralizer to the bucket. With a big tank using a bucket would take quite a few trips. Is...

Co2 Loss With A Wet Dry Filter

The problem supposedly arises when the water returns and comes back through the bioballs in the filter. I have read conflicting opinions on the web so I was hoping someone that actually uses a wet dry filter would be able to answer. The worst that would happen is I would have to refill the co2...

Co2 Loss With A Wet Dry Filter

Does anyone run co2 injection and also use a wet dry filter? Is there a substantial loss of co2 from the wet dry filter? What other filter options are there on large 150 gallon+ tanks?

Max Flow Rate For Co2 Reactor

Why wouldn't I want to do that? It saves me from having an additional pump just for the CO2 reactor and it keeps the CO2 system completely out of the tank and in the cabinet. After thinking about it some more I think the easiest way to add the reactor is to place it in a bypass on one of the...

Max Flow Rate For Co2 Reactor

I am trying to plan out my next tank and need some help. I am going to get a 180 gallon tank with a wet/dry filter. The filter has two outputs that each go to a pump and back to independent pre filters in the tank. I want to put a CO2 reactor on one of the outputs from the filter that returns...
