I've had absolutely no problem with them and I'm not going to stop using them when they have cured Ich many times with little loss of fish compared to products that use malachite.

I've been told that if you use dechlorinator that you should have a specific kind of test kit for Ammonia or you won't get accurate readings. Hopefully someone else can confirm this. I use a kit called Aquatru by Kordon it's a Salicylate Method. Maybe you can find that online.

Do you know what kind of frog it is for sure? Either way it will be fine with little water flow but if it's a clawed frog then I'd get rid of it as soon as you can because it will get big and eat the betta.

What kind of fish do you have? If it's goldfish or Koi. It won't matter what you try. I can't think of anything that would stop a fish from eating plants but... most tropical fish won't eat them.... or at least none that I've had.
