I'm wondering if plecos can experience Green Belly Syndrome. From what I've been able to find using google otto's can. Though I can't find anything stating what it is exactly or how you can prevent/treat it. Any information would be wonderful.
I've had some of mine turn green too but it didn't seem to harm them. I figured the old statement we are what we eat was the case. I'm thinking of one bristle-nosed guy I had and it was REpugnant! Hope yours is ok...
His belly was a really dark green. Not on the outside though... which is why I was wondering. All of my other fish are okay at the moment. I feel really bad about this one because my boyfriend bought him and he was a lemon drop (that's what they call them around here not sure if that's the correct name).
Oh so sorry my dear.
Do the other fish seem effected? I wish I knew more to help you. Perhaps you can keep researching or someone else will reply with more knowledge.
He died shortly after I posted this. I didn't have it in me to cut him open and inspect. Still wondering what it could have been. All of the other fish are just fine. No odd behavior or green bellies.
He didn't bloat and yes he was still fertilizing my plants. The only thing I noticed was that he had started to hide and stay in one place all day. It wasn't the hiding that I found odd but the staying in one place. I've still been looking for something in my spare time and haven't found anything. I'm guessing I'll never know.
