Hi Germ, You could be right. I haven't heard of this before but makes sense if a lower PH >6.0 can stop the bacteria growing. Not sure though :/

I didn't have to add extra minerals to the bottled water. I wouldn't have a clue on how to test the spring water, but I imagine that it may have a high PH aswell since your tap water is probally source roughly in the same location.

Bogwood is a good idea but it is only temporary. Once all the tannins have leached out of it, it makes it useless for lowering PH.

Are any of them showing any signs of illness? Sometimes they can pick on the ones that are ill

Buy a clamp for the airhose then you can adjust what flow you want. You can get these at the LFS in New Zealand, Im sure you could find them here. Fake plants are alot easier, I prefer them.
