ok, so once I get the acquaclear, how do I set it up? should I periodically remove the sponge and the ceramic and wash them? and if I ditch the carbon, what should do in its place?

I have an old penguin, which are similar to the emperor, and like it, it only uses this replaceable filter media. On the aquaclear, I am still not sure I understand how it works, there seems to be more pieces, but what are all the pieces/media that it uses?

well, I dont keep fish, but turtles in the tank, but it gets really messy after a while. RIght now its now so hard to do a complete water change because my tank is 30 gallon. But when I upgrtade to a bigger tank, I was wondering waht is the best way to completely change the water.

I'm wondering for you people with 50 gallon and bigger tanks, how do u completely clean them? How do you remove all the water? do you guys use some type of pump? And how do you clean the tank? with soap?

do turtles eat their own poop? because I am feeding them about 3 pallets each (about 9 total) each day for the baby sliders, but these things poop alot, and then i notice them trying to eath their poop, this couldnt possible be healthy?

yeah, I bought one of those turtle like soaps for the water, and in the instructions it said it was supposed to last 1 month in the water, but i has completely dissolved in 1 week! I think it is to expensive to be buying those everyweek.

why are the baby turtles more propense to giving salmonella than the grown up turtles?

new pics with my new better digital camera, I have put some rocks in and bought some rocks in the store to form a cave an a additional baskin place. These are picture of them taking their sun.

right now I feed them mostly pallets and then some lettuce and fruits. They seem to eat the pallets right away, but take a really long time to try the other stuff. And how quickly do these turtles grow? I mean, how many months will they stay that size for?

is it possible that my turtles are attracting other insects into my house? I've seen 2 nasty crickets and another insect in the balcony where I keep my turtles, and I've never had insects there before. or is it just coincidence?
