Just a quick update on this - the 'growth' has gone! All looks fine, puffer not in any distress at all, so just gonna keep an eye on it to make sure they don't call back!

Had a feeling it was gonna turn up for you! That skin looks quite new on it, mine tend to get darker and less 'clear' as they get old before the shed them.

I've 3 dwarf puffers and an amano shrimp in my 10g. Totally love the dp's - so so full of character and great little personalities!

Dwarf puffers are strictly freshwater fish and will not tolorate salt in the water, so don't be tempted!

Haha as do mine - just a few snails a couple of times a week from my community tank put into the puffers tank and they're happy as larry! Really do go wild for the snails, and it's always comical to watch them hunting them down when i hide a couple in the floating plants.

Ah might be the fact that you used water from the hot water pipe instead of the kettle. There's quite often a lot of not nice things in hot water storage tanks and heating systems - things like copper are very damaging to puffers health, and are quite hard to remove. Keep up the water changes...
