Thank you for your comments. I will try to take the goldfish back. Bettas are the same as Siamese fighting fish, right? Arn't they solitary fish? And is there a difference between tetras and neons?

They are very small goldfish. I see goldfish kept in a bowl and our tank is much much bigger than that. And the petstore guys were adamant everything would be okay. I am a little confused.
