Hey. Glad to hear some of the fish are still around! Is the angel I gave you still alive, he was always one of my favourite, even though he wasn't terribly bright! Not too sure why the SAEs should suddenly fall out they were alway best mates, and I had them as adults for a fair while. A...

    External Heating.

Hi, I use hydor heaters on both my Rio 240s with fluval filters. They work well but I found that due to the ribbed nature of the tubing I found that I couldn't connect it to the heater without it leaking. To overcome this I bought a couple of extra fluval rubber adapters (the ones that...

Hi, I'm currently treating for Ich in my malawi tank and was slightly concerned after something I read that porous rock in a tank can effect the medication (malachite green in this case) and effectively reduce its concentration rendering it less effective. I have been treating the tank for 5...

    Tang stocking

Thanks for the input! So you reckon the Cyprochromis would be ok in that tank, its big enough? Also what kind of water movement do these fish like? The tanks is currently filtered by a fluval 204, do you think this would suffice? Cheers :)

Please read, white spot on clown loaches.

In an established aquarium your ammonia levels should be 0, as ammonia is very toxic even at low levels. This may have something to do with your disease problems, as this will stress the fish making them more susceptable to opportunistic organisms such as ich. Becs

Hi, Thanks for the ideas! Have thought about some of those, I fancied inparticular Afras, or red zebras but were concerned about their levels of aggression?! Most the fish are about 3 inches at the moment and it is indeed a 4 foot, do you think another species is pushing it? That's why I was...

    Water Chemistry

What does your tap water test in terms of pH and carbonate hardness? It sounds like you may have something in your tank which is releases carbonate ions increasing your pH and carbonate levels. Did you test your gravel with vinegar to see if it fizzed?
