take some water from the surface using a syringe and put it in strong light... you should be able to see them if they are there

i used to have lots of guppies some years ago but i have never added salt to them, though in the mollies aquarium i did (about 1 spoon at 4 liters) mollies require adding salt because of the waters they naturally live in, but it's not the same for guppies...

how many plants do you have in that aquarium? if there are enough (especially surface ones like riccia) it can hide there but the best thing to do is put pregnant females in different tanks till they give birth, that way the fry will gave bigger survival chances

and if you don't have dechlorinator, just let it get old for about 2-3 days and then you'll be able to use it as like being treated with dechlorinator

check your fry behavior, do they aften rest on the bottom of the tank? that's the only place where they are vulnerable (for plecos)... if they swim well you won't have any problems

in fish shops you can find lots of fertilisers and by adding some in the sand i don't think you need anything else..

in the evening, just before turning the light off put in a leaf of salad, after few hours or even in the morning you'll be able to take them out (a large proportion of them) because they eat from the salad leaf and stay on it :) good luck

it depends on your tank's size, for small ones you can do fine with internal filters but if you have a 200+ liters tank you should better get an external filter (can be blended well in some piece of furniture and doesn't 'steal' from the tank's beauty)

if you go fot a good looking tank you surely want a planted one; it'a amazing what you can do with some aquatic plants, imagination and good light :)
