I guess I should say dwarf goramis. Sorry about that. Dwarves usually get along. I agree tetra's are risky but mine dont seem to be bothing my betta but I wont ever put another betta in there again because I really dont want to risk it being agressive towards the other fish or the other way...

    Debate

I never said betta's should have tank mates. I said the can have some species of fish as tanks mates such as cories, goramies, and occationally large non aggressive tetra's although its still a bit risky. I did not buy my betta. I do not agree with my sister wanting to breed. My sister did not...

"That should tell you something... One wonders, if such large tanks are prefered, why most breeders advocate keeping them in 10 gallons or less, not out of necessaity due to lack of space, but as the preferable housing? These are people who know these fish best. Fact of the matter is, bettas...

    Debate

Sorry, I have been on petshub. Some people are keeping betta's in .5 gallons. If you want to get better responses ask on petshub or read some of the posts. They will have very logical and factual answers to everything. Betta's are definatly healthier with space. In a bowl or a one gallon tank a...

"Just a note on size. I have a little bird named Miss Kinky. She is small (maybe an inch.) Her spine is twisted. I had her in a filtered split 5 usg. I came home to find her stuck to the floor of the undergravel tank and truamatized. I didn't know if she would recover. I ran down immediately to...

Angelfish grow big and need a lot more than 25 gallons. Bad comparison. :X If you want to know the people who agree with me, they are on petshub. com. If you tell them you think 1 gallon is minimum you will get yelled at....a lot. They present a lot more facts about this topic.

I dont think its possible for me to go into your room right now, unless you were my neighbor or lived in my attic. My house is not nearly big enough to fit that many ten gallons but I said she would find good homes for most. If not, then a bunch of ten gallons with dividers so they at least...

    Debate

She has not bred yet, and may never, but I would expect her to be able to give then nice 5 gallon minimum homes. Furryrabbit, I am glad your boy is in a 5 gallon, but you cannot change from big to small. That is just cruel to take away his space. Oh woah is me. I am not a expert because I...

No. Why are my views so bad? Are you going to melt out your eyes when you see them?!?! Are you afraid someone is going to take my "horrible, cruel, inhumane" advice?

Thank you to the one person who agree's with me. ;) I have had MANY betta's. My sister has 8 and I help her with thoughs. I only take one at a time so I dont have that many ten gallons. My sister has the males in 5 gallons and the females in 10 gallons. In all I have had about 7 betta's and...

    Debate

Betta's need fresh water to keep out the hormones that will stunt them. The risk of a plant is if it dies it will cause a huge amount of acidity. Betta's dont need tank mates. That is just my preference and beside the point.

    Debate

You all are forgetting one big detail. The build up of nitrate and ammonia. It is VERY hard to keep thoughs conditions stable. I can't imagen why a betta would not want more room. Its not only bigger but its safer.

Apparently I am not aloud to debate on other peoples forums so I am going to debate hear. Right now I am not liking this site. People are very rude and do not hear out what other people have to say. People keep different types of fish in one tank. A single betta is a peaceful fish and mine has...

Hmm. Then what kind is it. I bet it was the bubble nest incident. My betta dislikes my pearl gorami for messing up all of his bubble nests.

    Debate

Argue away, but the fact is a betta needs more that 5 gallon's. I always recommend 10 as min. but it looks as if 5 will be the only thing I can convince people on but its much better than a 2.5. You would not lock your child in a bathroom so why do it to your betta. My betta is extreamly happy...

    Betta And Pleco

Common pleco need 200+. The person in question I think has a common pleco. Yes, I know some do not need 200+ but most people do not want to buy a 30 dollar pleco. I am not arguing because I have no one to argue against.

Has Anyone Seem Two Males Battle It Out?

Unfortunatly yes...at a pet store that kept MALES in the same tank...well I think they thought they were females because they were short fined or young males. Don't do it. It is mean and grewsome.

    Need Help With My Betta

pH up and 7.0 will always mess up your tank in the long run. Betta's need a 5 gallon absolute minimum. 10 gallon is standard. The reason for bigger tanks is not only room for the betta but to keep the nitrate and ammonia stable. In smaller tanks it tends to build up VERY fast.

    Horrible, Horrible News

Betta's DO NEED bigger tanks! If you look around a bit you would see that the standard size for a betta tank is 10 gallon's with possibly a few other fish. The bare MINIMUM is 5 gallons and even that is VERY small. It is cruel too keep a betta in anything less than a 5 gallon. Pet stores sell 5...

    Horrible, Horrible News

Do you test your water everyday? Betta's may have lived in puddles in rice fields, but thoughs puddles streched thousands of miles. A ten gallon is the same price as a 3 gallon or 5 gallon if you look in the right places. Betta's also like things to hide in. I'm not talking to you in...

    A Walmart Rescue Story

"Cardinals and Rummynose aren't generally considered to be fin nippers but they have been in there for quite a long time and may see her as in intruder in their territory. Betta And Pleco

Plecostomus will need 200+ gallons. Are you prepared to get one? If not I suggest taking the plecostmus back because it will live a shorter stunted life. They betta and the pleco sound territorial to me.

    A Walmart Rescue Story

Make sure your tetra's arnt fin nippers. She may claim the top as her territory but if any other fish went up she may become very aggressive. You can put her in there and watch for a few hour to see how she does. Any sign that there may be a problem is when you probably need to go out and get a...

    Horrible, Horrible News

Betta's should not be in bowls. To decrease the chances of dropsy a filter and heater would do wonders, plus a bigger tank, say a ten gallon would do. Even 100% water changes every week will not nutralize the amount of nitrate and ammonia build up in small bowls. It would have to be an every day...

Females generaly harrass other females. Tetra's should be ok. They are quicker fish than the betta. It isnt unhear of females killing smaller fish though. Help With Sick Betta

I had a gold fish that had it. You could try catchting her in a net and examine it. If it is what i think it is, then it will smell VERY bad, but it if caught early enough can be cured easily. Poor girl. She is very pretty.
