Yeah cheers invader, Ive considered the smaller species before, but theyre just not as impressive as the larger sp like the 'red heads' that youve got etc. Finding a pair will be hard, but ill have a look out for them. Cheers, Mike

Sorry to hear, that happened to one of my pictus once. I was sitting on the sofa, then I heard a loud smacking noise, lifted the lid to find it on top of the perpex...Thankfully I was there to slide it back in, like you say, it can happen.

Trust me, ocellaris are amazing as adults, I suggest you try more pics, but its what your into I guess... Posting the media wont work, the useful bacteria, which are what make it mature or not will die in the post. They need to be transposted from one tank to the other ASAP, and be in water...

Try tropicalfishfinder (on google) and check them out on there. Wildwoods is a good place to go and they do delivery. Price depends on species and size, but they start at about £30, but like I say, depending on the species. Mike

If you were to get one of them, the smaller species like C. ocellaris (which is the species tropical imports have) should stay arround 2ft, reaching about a foot long in a year, then slowing down after that, it would take a long time for them to get too big for your tank if they ever would...

Yeah you need to give it a good wash in a bucket with cold water to ge rid of all the silt. Do this bit by bit, and add it to the aquarium (after removing the gravel). When you wash it, just do arround a kilo at a time and keep washing it (and using your hands to move it about) until the water...

Sounds good to me, try and get the sand in ASAP. Kids play sand (from argos/BnQ etc) will do perfectly.

I suggest you switch over to sand compleatly, or atleast for half of the tank. As for feeding, feed when its active i.e at night...

Yeah I aggree with what other people are saying. Trio max of motoros, fire eel, and aro for top, maybe some lima shovelnoses and then pbass or (probably best size wise) siamese tigers for the middle would be great.

Depends on the diamensions really, but you could have a chaca chaca or two. Very aggressive fish when feeding. Check out some videos on youtube or something.

I wouldnt call it control, but they do change very quickly. I guess its like us. When we are tired, hungry, cold etc we may be pale and pasty, but when we heat ourselves up, have a rest and eat we usually gain any lost colour back again, its just that with eels, it seems to be much more dramatic...
