Thanks for your comments, the tank has changed a lot over the last few months and now looks quite different (I will post some fresh pics soon !!) I must say Fillet 'O' Fish, your tank is really coming on well, when I first planted mine it seemed so big I thought the plants would never reach...

Same problem ..... some plants dont look so good , tanks at 30C because its 30+ outside!!!

Thanks, its changed abit now but you get the idea, I use 3 home made C02 Reactors and wet ferts. I hope to upgrade to pressurised C02 in the future. I would also suggest some fast growing steams like cobomba and some onion plants in the back corners which will grow fast and reach the surface...

I have the very same tank and have it planted too, mine was set up last November and this pic was a few months ago (Must take some fresh ones)

Is it really a good idea to mix water and PC's ? , I once blew up my monitor when watering a plant above it :blush:

I have been using that mix as well, its worked really well for the last couple of months.

Most of the Anubias species are hardy and tough,you can also plant them on wood or in cracks in the rocks which make them harder to up root. I have got away with it with fire mouths in the past :)

That could be a good start ... plants need light !!!

Yeah But I also provide for my fishes food requirements so that does not happen, if a fish (say a tinfoil barb) was put in my tank and was destroying the plants I would remove it, no question.

Thank you :D I added a more recent pic as well, but compared to some of the tanks in the members thread its a gold fish bowl And that really is my point ... Just look at the tanks in that thread, I look at those pics and it makes me try harder and in return get more enjoyment from my tank...

I enjoy looking after the plants in my tank as much (maybe a little more) than the fish, it so rewarding to be able to grow a natural environment for the fish. Far more rewarding than a few bits of rock and wood, athough I have seen many amazing looking tanks using just rock and wood...

Have both tanks been set up for a while, its easyer to grow plants in a mature tank.

I only keep fish because the plants like them :nod:

Cabomba likes med to strong lighting, some times it can do ok for a while but will rarely last with low lighting.

The large bubbles you get at first is the air in the tube being forced out by the C02,these will shoot up the ladder as this is just air. When you get C02 being pushed out you should get lager bubbles at the bottom getting smaller as they reach the top of the ladder, this is the C02 diffusing in...

I don't belive it but - They (The Angels) are now laying eggs on a broad leaf Anubias, little yellow ones. I have tried to get a pic but its in a tricky postion :thumbs: They are chasing off anything that gets near but as its quite a large tank its not causing any problems. I wish I had...

I have added 3 x Clown Loach (they seem to be making freinds with the other two) and a Gold Nugget plec (who looks awsome). I will take some new photos soon - Happy New Year :D

The sharks and the Barbs are both from larger groups where fish have been lost over time, as the tank settles I will add more to those that like others of there own species :) esp the clowns who have been with me for a while. I have lots of room so it should not be a problem, hopefully some new...

The tank has Angels, x 2 Clown loaches, x 2 (more coming soon) Plecs (Various) x 4 Flying foxes, x 3 Gouramis (Various) x 5 Silver sharks x 2 Tiger Barbs x 4 All my tank mates seem to get on well (no problems) some are quite old.

Hi Folks I am new here, but I have been reading this forum for a few weeks. This is my 500Ltr fresh water tank (thought I would post a pic) The tank has only been set up 6 weeks but things are beding down well, most of the fish, plants (and indead 300ltrs of water) came from my last set up...
