    Need Help With Spiney Eels

Nitrate of 12 is high? I disagree with that, but I do not have any live plants in my tank unlike you so that would probably explain why yours is so low. I found a Mastacembelus ellipsifer but I'm not really ready to pay $75 for an eel if I'm not 100% sure it's the hard water that is killing...

    Oddball Pics X)

Thanks! I purchased these from my local fish store, it's rare that they get "most" of these in, only the violet goby is pretty common there. In order: #1 - Grunting ToadFish #2 - Glass Headstander #3 - Clay Goby #4 - Violet Goby #5 - Purple Spotted Goby #6 - Marble Goby #7 - Common Pleco with...

    Purple Spotted Gudgeon

Kept with a Violet Goby and 3 Columbian Sharks.. It loves to sit on top of his fake stump and just wait for me to come to feed him. It reminds me of my Oscar how it will beg for food when I approach the tank. It's also a pretty messy eater, it will munch on some food and spit it out and wait...

    Purple Spotted Gudgeon

I keep mine in brackish water, it eats small fish so you might take that into consideration. I think they max size is around 6-7", mine is 6". I'm still learning about them as well.

    Need Help With Spiney Eels

Hmm.. you might have something there.. Aethiomastacembelus ellipsifer is very attractive although I've never even heard of it much less seen them for sale in the US. I do love most African fish so I'm sure I could put something together African themed. Pic

    Need Help With Spiney Eels

Ok, to answer a couple of your questions.. I have a domestic water softener and I use Potasium Chloride as opposed to Sodium Chloride. I've checked with the manufacturer already and they said it is fine for aquariums, I've had this installed for over a year now, I've been using it with my...

    Need Help With Spiney Eels

I'll wait for them to chime in.. I forgot to add that every one of them were eating within a few hours of adding them to the tank if it makes a difference. I have a 150 gal at my work that I can keep it in if it outgrows my 55 before I get my 150 set up, although I doubt it would. The...

    Need Help With Spiney Eels

Ok, I love Spiney Eels but I cannot keep them alive, I have had 1 Fire eel, 2 tire tracks and 2 Peacocks and they have all died within 48 hours of placing them in my tank, even tried 3 different tanks. Amonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 12, PH is high (my tap water is around 8.4) but I'll retest the...

My 150gal has 3 AC110's on it. It does a decent job, would rather have a wet dry but it came with one so I only had to spend $70 to get the other two.

    Walmart

The Chaca Chaca's have a mouth as wide as their body, from the pic the mouth of the catfish looks comparable to the size of a Raphael's mouth.. Do you still have the Catfish? Ever figure out what it was?

    Dragon Goby

My Violet Goby (Dragon Goby) has grown fairly slow.. I've had it a little over 2 years and it's around 11.5 - 12" long. I keep it's tank at 1.010 and it's in a 55 gallon.

If the worms are small enough however I feed store bought nightcrawlers that I know have not been subjected to chemicals.

    Peacock Eel!

Anything meaty, shrimp, krill, bloodworms, guppies, tubiflex worms, etc.. Some have said they will take shrimp pellets and flakes but I've not been able to get mine to eat that yet.

Lost A Marble Goby Last Night, Worried About The Other One.

As far as I know they do not.. they mainly only eat meat. They eat anything that fits in it's mouth and they eat almost their weight in food per day. Here is a couple links about them.. not much else beyond this unless your looking to buy bulk quantities to eat. fish index Fish Base

Lost A Marble Goby Last Night, Worried About The Other One.

Not a whole lot of info on this fish.. I'm allergic to most LFS frozen foods so my selection is limited.. I'm going to start feeding worms and beefheart as well.

    Walmart

Yea I've had stripped, spotted and marbled raphael's and it's neither of those. Did you ever figure out what it is? Kinda making me want to go to my Walmart and look around  Good pickup though.. would love to see more pics. Maybe post it up over at planetcatfish and see if they know.

Lost A Marble Goby Last Night, Worried About The Other One.

Umm.. I'm assuming the spine is messed up based on what it looks like. I don't know for sure exactly what caused it's tail to curve off. As for food I was feeding it frozen raw shrimp and rosies, but mostly froze raw shrimp.

Lost A Marble Goby Last Night, Worried About The Other One.

That stuff is in the original post.. I didn't see him darting anywhere as they are gobies.. they just lay around and wait on food. I did notice it was not there one day and the next day it was.

Lost A Marble Goby Last Night, Worried About The Other One.

Ok ya'll. I lost a marble goby last night and I'm worried about the reason for it's death. I have one more and I do not want to lose it. Anyway, the little guys spine was messed up, I didn't know if it had hit the glass real hard or what, but someone on a different forum said it could me...

    Fire Eel Dead

I bought one a few weeks ago and unfortunately it had a bacteria infection and it died within 2 days. I do know they do tend to get bacteria infections fairly easy. Mine was eating Krill from my hand the first day I got him. They do get huge, I saw a pic today of one that was 36" long.

    A Few Of My Oddballs

Yea the glass headstanders were one of those impulse buys.. I do that too often.. I just changed my marble goby tank over to gravel to see if it helps some with the high PH. I had playground sand in it and appearantly that was the culprit.

75 Gallon Brackish Tank-how To Stock?

Well the cats would work for a while if you were going to upgrade later, should get a year or two out of it I would think. Deffinitely use some Violet Gobies, I'm not sure if any of the fish you listed are fin nippers as I've only owned the cat and toadfish, but I would do the violets.

    Just Brought A Dragon Goby

I've kept violet gobies for a while now and the first time I bought one I was also told it was a FW fish. While they will live in FW it will not live very long in fresh water. I assumed my fish was healthy as it ate like a pig and swam around the top of the tank a lot. Well he only lasted...

    Question On Batrachus Trispinosus

Does anyone have specific info on the Batrachus trispinosus? I know they are sold as FW but really belong in BW. I just picked one up today and I have him residing in FW as thats what he was in at the LFS but if he really does need BW then I'd be more then happy to convert this aquarium over...
