    Planaria in my shrimp tank?

This wouldn't happen to be some other shrimp-friendly flat worm in my shrimp tank would it? Or do I now have a planaria problem and have to get traps? I saw them first yesterday morning but they were tiny specks. Now they're easily visible and gliding across the glass.

What to put in a UNS 60S (shallow) aquarium?

pH of the water coming up from the well is ~6.5 and GH is 40ppm, but I use Seachem Equilibrium to increase hardness for some of my tanks.

What to put in a UNS 60S (shallow) aquarium?

That's the exact look I was trying to achieve. Is that yours? What plants are you growing emersed? I was thinking of doing hydrocotyle tripartita and Cyperus Helferi.

What to put in a UNS 60S (shallow) aquarium?

Those are the right dimensions yes. And thanks for the suggestions - I've always wanted to keep CPDs.

🐠 TOTM VOTE NOW - November 2024 Tank of the Month Contest (31 gal and larger)

This is my 40G Breeder nature-ishb style that I've had since May, so it's about 5 months old. And in that time the wood has only floated up once. I have a male goldeneye cichlid, 5 bronze cory catfish, 6 neon tetras, and 6 ember tetras. Water parameters are 6.5pH, 60ppm TDS, and I keep it right...

What to put in a UNS 60S (shallow) aquarium?

My sister is setting up an aquarium in her room (finally) and she wants a UNS 60S, which is a shallow aquarium. She asked me what fish she could get. I have no idea. My first thought was a betta fish or kulhi loaches and other bottom-dwelling fish. What other fish wouldn't mind a shorter tank...

Apologies - it's not water wisteria, it's Limnophila Heterophylla.

    New 10-gallon stocking options

Hey everyone! Yesterday I finished scaping a standard 10-gallon aquarium. I'll be doing water changes every day for the next 6 days, then every other day for the next week, twice the week after that, and then once a week for the rest of ever. I'm using the twinstar 45B light and I do have a...

Can you have to many plants.

Your plants look great! Fish typically enjoy the cover plants provide, but also need swimming space. But right now I don't think you've gotten to the point of "too many plants."

    Are my plants dead?

In my experience, if a stem plant rots from the bottom up, it's a lighting issue - not nutrients. It might be the same for you since the other stem plant (looks like a ludwigia or bacopa species) only has leaves towards the top and the rest looks like it's been stripped. What light are you...

Need feedback on this 120-gallon tank

It's the only dwarf cichlid I've had and I love them. I've got a small group of 5 bronze cory cats that follow him around like he's their ring leader.

Do pearl gouramis breed often when conditions are right? How can you tell between male and female?

Need feedback on this 120-gallon tank

I had no idea they were called Golden Eyes, but I love the one I have right now. I kept him with 2 females but it seemed like every other week there was a new batch of fry so I moved him to my 40G.

I'm assuming that pearl gouramis are larger than sparkling. Will they not try to eat the smaller species in the tank?

Need feedback on this 120-gallon tank

Sorry, I should've been more specific: GH: 2dGH KH: 1dKH pH: 6.5 TDS (if you need it): 65ppm temp: 78F Thanks for the headsup about the loaches - didn't know they'd go after shrimp like that. And golden dwarf cichlid (nanacarra anomala) is a species from Suriname. They just might not be a...

Need feedback on this 120-gallon tank

I'm going with a fairly heavily planted tank, but the front half-ish of the aquarium will be open for the fish. I haven't completely decided on the wood yet. I live in the country so I have tons of access to oak trees outside. I've considered getting black backgrounds for the back - where can...

    What lighting/hood etc

I agree with what Colin_T said: I've had success growing aquatic plants with LED strip lights for indoor plants. I think the biggest thing is to find one with RGB (red blue green) and white lights. Plants use these the most in photosynthesis. Hope this helps!

Need feedback on this 120-gallon tank

Dimensions of the tank are 48" L, 24" W, 24"H. I've attached sketches of what I'm thinking for what I want the tank to look like. I'm planting with java fern species, abubias species, crypt parva, java moss, bolbitis, and maybe a valisneria species - I haven't decided yet. And I completely...

Need feedback on this 120-gallon tank

Hey guys! I've rescaped this tank once a year since I bought it in 2020, not because of anything major, just cause I can't seem to find a look that brings the whole living space together. I've added a picture of what it looks like right now. It's stocked with black and regular neon tetras and a...

    Walstad aquarium help

Thanks - I've noticed a little bit of this myself as I've done research on it and once I get back to the states I think I'll buy it. If not to actually do a walstad tank, then at least to learn about all the background processes. Appreciate it!

    Walstad aquarium help

I'll definitely keep you posted and I'll check out those resources. Diane's book isn't too expensive on amazon and I love reading things about aquariums. It might be a couple months until I get to set it up since I'm leaving the country in a week, but I'll just keep doing more and more...

    Walstad aquarium help

Hey scapers! I want to set up a walstad aquarium. I've done some research into it and I (sort of) know the equipment I'm going to use. I'm thinking of using the UNS 60U as the tank, Twinstar C Series for the light, and a generic HOB filter for filtration. I'd like to add shrimp and maybe fish...
