What to put in a UNS 60S (shallow) aquarium?

My sister is setting up an aquarium in her room (finally) and she wants a UNS 60S, which is a shallow aquarium. She asked me what fish she could get.

I have no idea. My first thought was a betta fish or kulhi loaches and other bottom-dwelling fish. What other fish wouldn't mind a shorter tank?

Any ideas would help! Thanks guys

Corys and a smaller plecos for sure. You should only do one small pleco but you can get 5 -6 of the smaller corys. For a 10 gallon tank I am a big fan of 8 celestial pearl danios or emerald dwarf raspora. Wonderful nano fish that when treated right really color up.

I've been enjoying keeping Daisy's ricefish recently. Or other ricefish species?

You could go for an indoor pond-style aquarium. Emersed plants would benefit from C02 and nutrients from the water

Those are the right dimensions yes. And thanks for the suggestions - I've always wanted to keep CPDs.

That's the exact look I was trying to achieve. Is that yours? What plants are you growing emersed? I was thinking of doing hydrocotyle tripartita and Cyperus Helferi.

not mine I'm afraid. I believe the plants were tripartita mixed with Hydrocotyle Leucocephala. I've grown anubias, bucephalandra and hygrophila emersed so far and all did very well. There's quite a range to choose from.

also, take into account what @CassCats said. GH and PH will affect stocking choices

pH of the water coming up from the well is ~6.5 and GH is 40ppm, but I use Seachem Equilibrium to increase hardness for some of my tanks.

This GH and pH is amazing for a group of boraras and pygmy cories without needing to change anything! Heck, you could likely even do a pair of wild bettas depending on the species (some are more solitary, some are not)
