Got me some platinum tiger barbs...

So I'm curious, how did these tigers lose their stripes? 🤔

    South American "Eel"?

I have a few Kuhli loaches, and they are great. I know Indonesia is a bit far of a trek from South America but they are pretty easy to take care of and don't grow past 5 in. They are omnivores as well. They would make a good fit for that kind of environment.

    Which barbs?

Barbs go all over the place. They are really very energetic fish.

    Random new guppy death!!

Why can't you mention 25%? That's all I ever do for all of my tanks. They are pretty heavily planted though and I'm sure that makes a difference.

Pvc pipe glue safe for fish?

Definitely safe after you've let it sit and out gas. I wouldn't recommend using it for anything but smaller valves and tank fittings though.

    Random new guppy death!!

I've got five tanks going, I need all the plants I can grow LOL. Now the guppy grass on the other hand has no problem getting wildly out of control. I can't get duckweed to survive in my tanks for some reason.

    Random new guppy death!!

Unfortunately for me my plants have been a little too effective in their duties and are a little starved for nitrogen now. So I've been doing water changes less often and the plants are getting healthier but I do wonder if I should put some fertilizers in there. It's surprising that they can...

    My System No Dechlorinator

I've got five aquariums here and about 30 plants. I generally let water sit for 24 hours and still add prime before putting it in the tanks. I don't add prime for the plants but if I don't let the water sit and I give my plants chlorinated water there are definite repercussions. If you have time...

Tiger barb not doing so well

Really sorry this is happening, it's always frustrating when your little buddy is not doing well and there's nothing you can do. I felt the same way you did when I first started raising tiger barbs because they just die all the damn time, but now that I have a strong tank of healthy fish they...

Tiger barb not doing so well

My Siamese algae eaters are absolute fiends for those algae wafers. It's fun to watch them and the tiger Barbs go after the wafers, they seem to have worked out a mechanism for sharing them now. I have five of the algae eaters and eight tiger barbs in one 30 gallon tank and they do pretty well...

Orange sailfin Mollie showing signs of Dropsy/popeye

Remember the Golden rule when adjusting your pH: Go SLOW, very small increments.

What Fish Do You Regret Buying?

Serpae tetra. They do absolutely nothing but bully each other all day long. Really aggressive and territorial even with plenty in the tank. Even my tiger barbs are more fun.

Orange sailfin Mollie showing signs of Dropsy/popeye

Have you tried adjusting your pH up? I do know that my Yucatan Molly's do best in slightly more alkaline water. I keep the pH in my Molly tank at around 7. Also go easy on the salt, I know that Mollies are are said to be really brackish fish but they seem to prefer less salinity. I save the...

What to do if your fish has Stringy White Poop.

Interesting replies, my fish get stringy white poop when they are constipated. I'm a little freaked out by all these people telling you to put so many chemicals in your tank.

Tiger barb not doing so well

Hi there, I've been keeping tiger barbs for a few years now and even with my tank at near perfect parameters I have lost many of them to genetic defects. I think part of the issue with tiger barbs is that they aren't really captive bred so as far as genetics you get what you get out in the wild...

When did you get into breeding fish?

Yeah I am in agreement. Plus a partnership is on the table if I work really hard and my skills increase productivity, so I'm really not trying to screw that up. Definitely not the first non-disclosure agreement I've signed but this is the smallest company I've worked for and from what I've...

I will see what I can do, I'm not going to push it though since I'm pretty new still :)

When did you get into breeding fish?

Sorry no can do, they got a little agitated when I even sent pictures to my friends. It's a pretty competitive industry and I had to sign a hefty NDA. Plus it's actually tougher than you might imagine to get pictures of the fish when there is salt all over the damn place haha. I'm happy to...

When did you get into breeding fish?

I started with Mollies, although I don't even know that I can say that I did anything considering if you turn your back on them for 5 seconds they are pregnant when you turn around again. My tiger barbs have started mating so that should be an interesting experience. A few months back I got a...
