    Amazon Biotope

Same with my old angels, thanks for listing the plant and fish species. I’ll maybe use it as a guide in the right direction. :)

This is another setup I’d look to do. Were you specific with plants etc ? I don’t think I’d put angels in either.

Yeah, I’ve had a look about and you’re right it will lead to headaches so I’m just going to go for a general South American setup.

Yeah I’m not sure, the pic attached to seriously fish doesn’t quite look like it but if you google “elegant corys” this is what appears:

    Amazon Biotope

Yeah that’s what I’m worried about, getting carried away haha. I quite like the idea of making it a certain region, only because I prefer things to be natural but on the other hand If I limit it, that would mean less variety of species but saying that there’s still quite a lot to chose from if I...

    Amazon Biotope

Only a 30 gallon, I got rid of my big tanks to free up some space, I kind of regret it but hopefully I’ll get some bigger ones again someday. I agree with the variety, although I’m indecisive so i want to keep every kind of fish lol

    Amazon Biotope

Hi everyone, I joined this community in September to get some community fish ideas. I have been thinking and researching since then and I’ve made the decision of going for an Amazon biotope - either blackwater or clearwater. Does anyone have any personal experience with these kind of setups as...

Oh no, sorry to hear that :( the same happened to mine - my one only lasted about 4 months though and one morning he just completely deteriorated and died within a few hours infront of my eyes.

I’ve looked back and my dwarf gourami was in my other 30gallon which i broke whilst cleaning lol - I originally bought the one I want to use now as an emergency fry grow out. So I’ll have a look at the honey gourami :)

I believe that is what my first dwarf gourami died of  i will wait until I have bigger tanks again to get the pearls :) since I’m struggling to find a centrepeice, what about just another school of tetras ? I’m not sure what though

I’m still really not sure but how does this sound: 1 male dwarf gourami 10 - 12 neon tetras 6- 8 peppered cory’s Do you think I could get better use out of the tank or is that reasonable enough ? I prefer the look of pearl gourami’s but if they’re more comfortable in groups then I think even...

Yeah, I forgot how hard it is to choose lol but maybe I’m just indecisive

Yeah I mean Otocinclus :) I was thinking maybe 10 of one type of tetra, but I can’t decide which ones I want

I’ve been looking around and I’ve made a list of the fish I like the look of. I’m still deciding on my Centrepiece fish but here is the tetras I like: Neon Tetras Black Neon Tetras Penguin Tetras - I’ve kept them before Silver Tip Tetras X-ray tetras Glowlight Tetras bottom feeders I’m stuck...

today I’ve been looking at dwarf neon rainbows (rainbow praecox) as my shoaling fish and I quite like them, what are your views on them ? And would my water be too soft ? I think I would need a longer tank for these guys ?

Just been reading up on cory’s and read that they can release a toxin when under stress, I’ve never heard of this - have any of you guys experienced it ?

thats true, I had a tank the same volume (120l) but it was much longer, slimmer and taller

Thank You I think I’ll score that one off - I wouldn’t want it to be overcrowded

I’m trying to come up with a general list so I can look into further detail but would a Bristlenose pleco be fine in my size tank ?

Ok, I think that’s the reason I decided not to get the rams a few years ago but I’m not entirely sure, as for the cory’s I’ll look into the ones I want to keep most.

it’s softer than I thought it was, I was struggling to find numbers for some reason but I got there in the end! What kind of shoaling fish would you suggest? I’ve heard a few people say rummy’s. The local fish shop is a good call as I’ve looked everywhere online and no company would deliver to...

i’ve kept angels and dwarf gourami’s before but I quite like the idea of the gourami being the centrepiece, I’ve also looked into blue rams which I like the sound of but I’m not sure if they’re aggressive?. I love neon’s but I’ve never kept them strangely, so I’ll definitely consider them. I...

Hey guys, I want to get back into the fish keeping hobby after two years away from it, I have a tank which measures: L- 60cm D-40cm H-50cm It was a second hand tank so I wasn’t told the volume but I put the measurements into multiple tank volume calculators which all said 120 litre’s (I’m not...
