is this "bacterial infection" contagious?? could it spread? cos weirdly enough, our neon dwarf gourami has JUST developed this "bulge" in its belly, which seems to extend towards the rear of the fish (bum area)

After my previous thread about undergravel filtration we decided to go for a bigger internal filter, as thats a more efficient filtration system. So, we currently run the Fluval 2plus....and we've now bought the Fluval 3plus.... So we know the filter is reliable etc, but its just bigger, and...

good point. however, how do i make the "new" media, suitable to run alone?

The Fluval 3 plus perhaps??? If i were to decide to go for that.......how would i swap filters......as in bacteria etc??....

I'm currently running the tank as said in my sig, with a Fluval 2+ interanl filter. We get a lot of debris in the gravel, despite weekly waterchanges via gravel vac'ing. And to be honest, the filter currently seems to slow down after a week, not GREATLY, but ENOUGH to know that it needs...

we already "occasionally" put some king british algae tabs in......they dont seem TOO keen?

constipation? really? so some peas may help? what fish will this apply to in our tank? the botia and cory? the others seem ok to be fair. so do we think this could be the pellets? or? and can you get vegetable "substitue" pellets or is "real" vegetable the only route?

water movement is provided by a fluval 2+ filter running on "full"......and a six inch water stone being fed by a seperate small air pump. feeding twice daily. a pinch of king british tropical flake food for the mollies and gourami, and a pinch of catfish pellets of which we are not sure of the...

not sure about the toilet issue as they are bottom dwellers, its obvioulsy difficult to see it. however, they do look a bit bloated (belly area), in as much as we thought they looked a bit fat.

Got the fish listed in our sig.......... Lately the botia and cory haven't been quite so "lively" and hiding quite a bit. and not seeming to come out to feed like they were. earlier this week we had a mollie die, and this morning a cory julii...... thing is, the water seems fine, though...

its just "gunk" clogging it...... could it be too much flake food?

Currently running a 21gal 96 litres on a fluval 2 plus filter. it keeps "blocking" within a week, and as such, the water flow drastically reduces. we have an air pump running through a long air stone. so oxygen aint the issue, but we have to keep cleaning the filter. now i know you need to...

one of our female mollies eyes (only one eye)has grown to a huge size...... whats that all about? still eating like a pig, still behaving normally....... :dunno:

no the eggs will go moudly due to bad water flow around them. what did you use for a hatching container? i had two hatch, but now they have disappeared fromt he net, as have the unhatched eggs....... :dunno:

i'm going to use liquifry for egg layers for the cory...... however, the two that hatched may now disappeared from the net, as have the un hatched eggs......

where you getting your fish dude?

we've got three bronze and three julii..........they are cool!!! the bronze have grown a fair bit, but the julii are still quite dainty....how sweet! and one of the species are breeding too!!!..... :hyper:

Right, We;ve got breeding mollies.......who aint? and breeding cory...... :cool: :flex: :wub: looking at using a breeding tank to "keep" the eggs seperate so that if they are fertile they can hatch......already had two hatch in a net suspended in the tank (not sure if they are still...

"scrapped" some NEW ones from the glass, kept them in a little fine mesh net suspended at the top of the tank as a make shift breeding unit...... TWO HAVE HATCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*runs to tank to remove carbon filter* what carbon filter??...we aint got it in there???? he he!!

Simply, if we get a power outage...... how do we deal with our tank? heat? filtering? air?

Greetings...... We've got a Fluval 800 tank....21 gal.... Running a Fluval 2 filter...... it keeps the water clear, so no problems with that...... however it "clogs"...not massively or anything, but over about a week, it seems to slow down, and when we look at it, the sponges are...

swallows dont have any chain loach....... though they do have "botia histrionica"....... the Gold Zebra Loach..... of which we purchased three!!!! and already they are eating the little snails.......result!

oh, and do they eat snails? and would two be ok?

they would be "safe" as in not a bad thing, but as you say, maybe too larger gaps for the bacteria etc

Not really ANY clue about this...... heard a "botia" can eat snails.......... what are they? what they look like? do they eat snails? and can you get smalls varieties? 21 gal, 96 litres.....

well, waiting to see what happens with the fry. to see about further stocking. but i think a few more plants. but the main thing is the removal of snails. what a pain they are! i'll try and get some pics of our balloon mollies and bronze cories. the cory jullii are now a lot more defined in...
