    Sick Honey Gourami

Yeah I'm honestly surprised he made it through the night. It's just frustrating not knowing what has caused this. I've never actually heard of a Thick Lipped Gourami. He was sold to us as a Honey Gourami and I never thought otherwise. How can you tell the difference?

    Sick Honey Gourami

We have had him for 4 months now. The only things we've done in the last 2 weeks is a 70% water change 4 days ago and fed them bloodworms for the first time. Thank you very much for all of the information. We'll try with the water changes and salt and see how things go.

    Sick Honey Gourami

Hi all, I travelled home to visit my family for christmas and my other half is back at home looking after our fish. We have a male honey gourami and neon tetras. Yesterday she noticed that the honey gourami never appeared when she put food in the tank, which is strange because he usually...

    Fish pooping from wound??

Yeah that’s what I thought it was but couldn’t quite believe it as I’ve never heard of anything like this either. I also think the best option is to euthanise him. He’s always been bullied by the other fish unfortunately so his quality of life isn’t great. I don’t want him to suffer any more...

    Fish pooping from wound??

Hi all, There is something very bizarre happening with my male guppy. A couple of weeks ago he had what looked like a parasite or prolapse coming from his anus which I posted about here. It eventually disappeared and it seemed like he was recovering but then on his side, next to his pectoral...

    Prolapse or parasite?

Hi all, One of my male guppies has had this white thing on him for 3 days now. At first we thought it was a parasite and have treated the water for that but its showing no signs of budging. Could it be a prolapse?? He has been behaving normally otherwise.

    Guppy staying near heater

I have a sponge filter connected to an air pump which is on the strongest flow setting. No I only have 5 guppies in the tank and it’s 60 litres.

    Guppy staying near heater

Thanks for the help! My partner is going to go to the pet shop tomorrow to see if there’s medication there, failing that she’ll get aquarium salt. Is there a way of telling which type parasite he has?

    Guppy staying near heater

Hello all, One of my male guppies has recently been hanging around the heater at the water surface for most of the day. My partner has also noticed that his poops have been a lot longer than usual. He’s still eating fine and the other guppies in the tank are all behaving normally. The...

Yeah I think I'm going to get 3 more males so I have 5.

    Male guppies

My GH is 10d, KH 10d, pH 7.6. I keep the temperature at 24 degrees.

    Male guppies

Okay so about 2 weeks ago I got my first fish. 3 male guppies. Everything was going well but one of them had been acting strange from the beginning. He would often freeze and then suddenly swim very erratically around the tank. Over the past week I noticed he was eating less and less and then...

    Tiny white worms

Thanks I’ll do definitely do more water changes. Glad to know they’re not harmful. Out of curiosity do fish eat these? I’m eventually going to get guppies and neon tetras and wonder if they would lower the numbers?

    Tiny white worms

I’ve just noticed that my tank glass has hundreds of tiny white worms on it! This has really given me the creeps. I just did an 80% water change yesterday and that seems to have made them appear. Can somebody tell me what these are and how I can get rid of them? I don’t have any fish in the tank...

    60l Stocking

The tank is 61x31x31cm. If possible I’m thinking of doing 3 guppies and 7 neon tetras
  24. juno26

    60l Stocking

Yeah I would like a community tank if possible. I’ll take them off my list then. Do you have any other ideas of what I could keep with Guppies in this tank? Do you think Neon Tetras are still an option?

    60l Stocking

My first aquarium is currently cycling and I'm thinking of what to stock it with once it's ready. Here is a list of some fish that I'm interested in: Guppys Neon Tetras Mollys Neon Green Rasbora Platys Endlers Dwarf Gourami Neon Dwarf Rainbowfish Harlequin Rasbora Looking for some input on...

    Planted tank cycle

Thank you so much for helping me with this! I was very confused but now I understand it better. This is probably a dumb question but when I'm researching which fish are suitable for my tank, do I compare the water hardness that they like to my tap water or my tank water?
  27. juno26

    Planted tank cycle

The tap water is actually greater than 16. Yeah I have H.E.L.P Advanced Shrimp Soil. I also have driftwood in the tank does that affect any of this? My tank water has been fluctuating between 7.2 and 7.6. pH Is that normal? I have no idea about what they add in the water here to be honest...
  28. juno26

    Planted tank cycle

Right. I thought 3ppm was a normal amount of ammonia to have at this stage of the cycle and it was a case of waiting for it to drop to 0. I’ll try what you have suggested and hopefully that will help. I’m sure decaying leaves have contributed to the ammonia as I had a plant in there that went...

    Pest snails?

Thanks all for the information! I think I’m going to leave them for now and if it gets out of control I’ll set a trap or something.

    Planted tank cycle

Okay so I just tested my tap water again and got the same results GH: > 16d KH: 20d pH: 8.4 I also tested for ammonia and got 0ppm

    Planted tank cycle

Yeah as essjay said I’m in Spain so that would be costly to ship it here unfortunately
  33. juno26

    Planted tank cycle

I’ve been looking into buying that but can’t find it cheaper than 50 euros which I can’t really afford right now. I have API ammonia test strips and Sera strips for now.

    Pest snails?

I bought some plants yesterday and some tiny snails hitchhiked their way to my tank. Should I get rid of them or are they harmless? My tank is currently cycling and has no fish in it. I’ve counted 5 so far.

    Planted tank cycle

Sorry I should have mentioned in my last post that in my tap water test I got 10 nitrate and 0 nitrite. I will test for ammonia tomorrow. Based on the results could you tell me if I should get fish that prefer hard or soft water?

    Planted tank cycle

I did a test on my tap water a while back and these were the results: GH: > 16°d KH: 20°d pH: 8.4 and my tank water test from yesterday had the following results. Ammonia: 3.0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 10 GH: 10°d KH: 6°d PH: 7.2 I'm not sure about the chloramine. I've had a look online and...
