    Amano shrimp turning milky?

It could be muscular necrosis or a molting problem. Have you seen any molts? Can you test gh, kh and nitrate? I assume your tank is cycled?

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

Is ammonia changed to ammonium in ph under 7 or under 6? And nitrite is less toxic in ph above 7 or 8 (I forgot which)? Zero nitrate is usually very hard to achieve in fish tanks unless they are very large (probably thousand of gallons or more).

Enough filtration for 60 gallon tank?

Ammonia and nitrite in my tank is always 0. I’m not sure how biological filtration harms plants, the bacteria will only grow to how much ammonia the fish produce? I do know about nitrate but I already keep it under 20 in all my tanks, most are heavily planted and nitrate is 0-5 ppm. I use...

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

I thought all nitrification was prohibited under ph 6? Would it be possible to keep them together if I added ~10 codydoras sterbai first then after a while add 6 yoyo loaches? If not can I keep kuhli loaches? On another forum one of the corydoras people said it’s ok if I have backup tanks.

Enough filtration for 60 gallon tank?

The first paragraph is what I meant when I said “I thought I couldn’t overfilter”. The filter’s flow rate can be adjusted to 20% of the maximum (450 gph) if I remember correctly. The filter’s capacity is about 3.5 litres. It already came with a coarse sponge and some matrix for biological...

I also have 2 backup tanks and 1 food safe 20 gallon container if something goes wrong with loaches and cories.

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

Will the ph lower too much if I don’t raise the kh? I guess I don’t need to do it then. I plan on keeping the same species as I mentioned in the first post besides the rainbowfish and deciding if I can keep corydoras with the loaches with the method I mentioned above.

Enough filtration for 60 gallon tank?

Which part is too much? I didn’t think I could overfilter and I thought 10x turnover rate was recommended. Are there any problems with too much filtration if the filter flow isn’t too strong for the fish? I already have the filter.

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

I asked SeaChem which products I could use to raise gh and kh. They recommended equilibrium for gh and acid and alkaline buffers for kh. Could I just use cuttlebone? I used it on other tank to raise gh and kh to gh 10 and kh 7 for livebearers. Most species will probably be the same besides yo-yo...

Enough filtration for 60 gallon tank?

It is the same tank. I am not really sure which fish to have anymore. There will be these fish: 1 green phantom pleco 5-6 upside down catfish 6 or more corydoras sterbai 3 pearl gourami 6 or more of some type of schooling fish Maybe some others Plants include: Amazon sword Anacharis Dwarf...

Enough filtration for 60 gallon tank?

Is a seachem tidal 110 (450 gph) and a sponge filter enough filtration for a 60 gallon tank?

Sorry about the misunderstanding. Could you give me some suggestions for schooling mid-top dwelling fish?

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

I do know about changing water chemistry... I definitely don't have as much experience as you (I'm not even as old as how many years you've been keeping fish) but my 6 years of experience keeping fish is not too bad but not that much either. I'll skip the rainbowfish and look for fish that do...

Also @Byron could you post a link to the article(s) about corydoras and loaches if you don’t mind? I’m interested in reading them.

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

How much would I have to raise gh and kh for rainbowfish? Do they need alkaline water? I didn’t think I could have 5 gouramis. I was only doing 3 (1male and 2 females)anyway. Is 60 gallon big enough for kuhli loaches and corydoras sterbai? The bolivian rams I’m buying are around 2 inches. Are...

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

I’m not trying to argue.. just showing different opinions because I don’t know who is correct. If you researched 10 years you are probably right about a lot of things related to fish. Do you know anyone on this forum who keeps bolivian rams who could give a second opinion? Not because I don’t...

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

They will not pair if there’s 6 of them? Should I buy 8 more to get some pairs? Someone on another forum said this about what you said. “Who said this? On this site? I have four bolivians together in a tank nearly 10 gallons smaller than yours* and they are completely fine, despite the fact that...

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

I know how they form a pair... which is why I’m buying more than I actually want. I have 2 together in a29 gallon (used to be 36 gal but it leaked). The one I think is female is very aggressive (even bites my gourami) but never actually does damage. The suspected male is less dominant, but did...

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

Someone on another forum said it’s ok and he keeps them together. The lfs also said it’s ok but I know not to trust lfs all the time. I can’t have kuhli loaches either? I’ll add 5 at the same time. Which one can I have? I forgot to mention there will also be bolivian rams. I have 2 currently...

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

I was told on another forum it was fine... I can’t have any species of loaches with corydoras? I don’t like mixing species so I will just get one species of corydoras. I will be getting some amazon swords and larger anubias. Definitely will have driftwood and most pieces have crevices. The tank...

    Stocking a 60 gallon tank

I have a 60 gallon tank with the dimensions of 48 inches long 12 inches wide and 24 inches high. The tank will have 2-3 inches of sand and will be planted. The filter is a SeaChem Tidal 110 and a sponge filter or two. The tap water has a gh of 2 and a kh of 2. Ph is 7. I can raise gh and kh to 4...

My guess would also be female. If you could see the breeding tube that would be more accurate.

What species of corydoras? I’m assuming it is corydoras aeneus (bronze or albino or sometimes green).

    Questions regarding cory breeding

I’m pretty sure they do not bury their eggs. Bare bottom can damage their barbels.
