    bummble-bee catfish

There is such a thing as a bumble bee catfish though. I own one, cutest little thing ever. :P You can look it up in the fish index on this site.

    need some help again

As of losing color, if you did a large water change maybe you just stressed that fish out. My blue ram usually turns really pale and gets stress lines when I do a large water change. I turn out the lights for her a little while and she calms down and turns back to normal. :dunno:

    fry factory

:-( One of my male german blue rams died today. :-( :-( :-( Your male looks a lot like mine did. I am happy that your female has eggs though. I hope you will have some cute little ram fry soon! Good luck! :D

    It's a boy......It's a boy......It's a boy......

Congrats. Pictures are great. :D

    HITH?!??!

Is your fish eating and pooping normally? What are the water conditions? Are they holes or do they look like they are filled with puss? Have you added any rocks that you've maybe collected from your back yard or any rocks that aren't specifically meant to be used in an aquarium?

Getting a 100 gallon, need stocking help!

I think I have made up my mind on the oscar, the blood parrot, 4 silver dollars, and the 3 pictus cats. But who knows, I may go to the LFS and fall in love with an unexpected fish. :dunno: I do that sometimes. Then I'll come home and research it, then go back out and buy him. :P

    R.I.P

My blue ram died today. He was breathing rapidly yesterday, but I figured he was just stressed out because I did a large water change. :-( My nitrite was .5 so maybe that was what killed him? All of my other fish seemed fine though. Poor thing. He really had a lot of character. I miss him...

    a few more random pics

Adorable parrots. I am thinking about getting one along with an oscar for my 100 gallon. Do you think they would do okay?

    holy crap fying fish!!

 How much is an arrowana anyway? They sell a few baby ones at a LPS by my house but they don't have a price. I believe they are silver in color and only about 3 inches in length. So cute when they're little. :P

    holy crap fying fish!!

O_O I would freak out if ANY 9 inch fish jumped out at me. :hyper:
  11. E

Lost my german blue ram today =(

As some of you may know, I had a bad nitrite spike about 2 weeks ago. :-( I did 80% water changes every other day with 50% water changes in between the 80% water changes. I had to do the water changes by hand because I don't have a syphon. :o Anyways lastnight I noticed my glass catfish...

    holy crap fying fish!!

How big is your arrowana? :hyper:

    125 gallon tank

A nice large shoal of neons would look great in my opinion. You shouldn't buy TOO many mollies, guppies, and platies as you will soon see them multiplying faster than you can make extra room for them. Do you plan on keeping all of the fry or selling them?
  14. E

    Free fish

I am looking at getting an oscar and blood parrot soon for my 100 gallon, so I assume I will have to throw an occasional feeder fish in the tank. :-( I am afraid I'll end up filling my 29 gallon and spare 10 gallon with "cute" feeder fish.
  15. E

    Black Ghost Knifefish compatibility??

How large is his tank? Does he have anything in his tank currently?
  16. E

    dragon fish

Was it this? I believe that is a violet goby as someone posted above. They are often labeled as dragon fish. I think they are pretty peaceful, but might eat smaller fish if they get hungry enough, like small guppies and fish like that. They feed on ghost shrimp and black worms when they get...
  17. E

    I finally found them!

What do you mean get rid of them? Getting rid of an old fish to get a new fish is sad. :-(

    Female betta companions...

I have a community 29 gallon and have a female betta in there. You can read what I have in my 29 gallon in my sig. I guess it might just depend on the temperment.
  19. E

    New fish

rubber lipped plec  I believe they only get 5.5 inches. :D They also do a good job. Mine cleaned up my whole 29 gallon in one day.
  20. E

    My new tank :dunno:

What about ditching the oscar idea and going for some smaller cichlids?

    Advice on plants/snails/fish

I soaked them in ice water for about 5-10 minutes or until it got really cold. Then I took them out, rinsed them off again and planted them in my substrate. I have had NO snails what-so-ever. And I know the place that I get them from has snails in their plant tanks because when I purchased...

2 sudden deaths in a day.

Is there anyway you could get some filter media from your LFS? Like some of their gravel or something you could buy that already has bacteria on it? If you have completely rinsed the filter sponge in tap water, all of your bacteria is most likely destroyed so your tank has to start all over...

    the importance of cleaning filters

I am not sure of what filter I had but it was the one that comes with the Walmart package for the 10 gallon and everything was fine and the flow was normal but my orange finned botia (botia modesta) swam right up it and got into the filter. I was watching him while he did it, so I scooped him...

Getting a 100 gallon, need stocking help!

I updated the front page on my two lists I am thinking about. I just don't know whether to get the gold sev or the 3 pictus cats. I need a catfish to clean up the oscar's messy eating so I think I will go with the pictus cats. Plus the guy who I am getting the tank from has 3 pictus cats that...
  25. E

    Okay for a 100 gallon?

I think I am going to forget the gold sev and get 3 pictus cats instead and 4 silver dollars instead of 6.
  26. E

    Bshockstubb's Fish Gallery

I used to have that SAME rock in my 30 gallon. The one on the far right. It is kind or orange and white. My glass cats loved it. :P Nice looking fish and tanks.
  27. E

    250 gallon tank

I'm going to pay 300 for a 100 gallon setup (hopefully) so 250$ for a 250 is a great deal.
  28. E

    Parrot Cichlids

2 rio 2500 pumps, wet/dry flilter system, mod 4 filter  Is that okay?
  29. E

    Okay for a 100 gallon?

Okay then I will add the 6 silver dollars and the large plec first and then wait a few weeks and add the parrot and the sev then wait a few more weeks and add the oscar. Does that sound okay?
  30. E

    Parrot Cichlids

I think this is what I am going to do: 1 albino oscar 1 blood parrot 1 gold sev 6 silver dollars 1 large plec
  31. E

    125 gallon, good deal?

Well I am going to get the 100 gallon. I don't want to have anything built. I'd rather just buy it because I am lazy and eager to add fish. :P
  32. E

    Oscar

Well if your gourami is truly aggressive it will dominate the oscar and Jack Dempsey (which I doubt when the two get larger) If the JD is still young when you get the baby oscar, maybe they will have a better chance of getting a long. I would maybe set up another tank just incase they start...
  33. E

    freshwater stingray

I've heard of teacup rays that stay fairly small, much smaller than any other ray atleast. :dunno:
  34. E

    Oscar

Just wait until he gets bigger.
  35. E

    250 gallon tank

 Great deals are hard to come by usually, but when you find one you should definately take it up as soon as you can. Get it, if your fiancee doesn't kick you out for it.
  36. E

    Okay for a 100 gallon?

Okay. I will buy them young and add the oscar, gold sev, and BP at the same time all when they are fairly young. Hopefully they will all like each other. :P Then I might add the silver dollars later.
  37. E

    Okay for a 100 gallon?

Yea, I just edited my post. :P I think I will stick to the silver dollars. Do you think a gold sev would be a good addition or too much?
  38. E

    Okay for a 100 gallon?

1 albino oscar 1 blood parrot cichlid 4 silver dollars 1 large plec 3 pictus cats Or is that overcrowding?
  39. E

    Overstocking and cloudy water

Mine did that too. I did a 50% water change (by hand  ) and the next day it would still be cloudy. I did a 30% water change the next day. Then I tested my water and found out I also had a nitrite spike. :o :-( So I started to change 80% of the water everyday. Ever since I did the 80%...
