Some people say that they have raised amanos in fresh water, but they never document it so it's hard to say if it's true or not.

From what I've read people let algae grow in the aquarium and largely leave that up to "filtering" the water that and water changes I guess. At least until they are bigger.

I was sceptical at first so I tested it on some daphnia. I took my 20l tank filled it from the hose no dechlor added and that daphnia colony is still going; I only use water from the hose never bother with dechlor.

I dose weekly and my plants don't suffer, I also don't use co2. You don't have particularly powerful lights so I doubt you benefit much from adding co2 I'd just stop doing it all together. Your lights are on too long though.

What type of clowns as some do get quite big?

Why wouldn't you use regular R.O water? Also that betta water is unbelievably expensive.

What do you want this sump for techen? Mainly to hide equipment or to add extra water volume because if its to hide equipment the kent bioreef (which i believe is the tank you are getting) has an area at the back for that.

Put the sand in a bucket and then run it under a powerful(ish) tap or shower and make sure you move it around with your hand to get all the dust out.

How much water are you going to change because I always do water changes with cold water never killed a fish, shrimp or any bacteria.

Looks really good, but the price tag on its a bit off putting.

What are your stats e.g ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH etc? Also how big is the tank?

They're invasive in Spain, and because we could potentially send plants over with the snails on or just send the actual snails so that's why we can't trade them. They have only recently been made illegal to trade so some stores still have them in stock.

I dip my plants in carbonated water for 12 hours no snail ever survives that and carbonated water is cheap. I've never had it affect the plants either. The only problem with this is you have to wait a little while. It could potentially kill them a lot faster but I always soak them for anything...

30 ppm of nitrate isn't that bad, and 7 ppm from the tap isn't that bad either. The 0.5 NH4 and 0.2 NO2 readings are a bit worrying though as you really want both of those at 0. It's also a bit weird that your NO2 doesn't go down, how old is your test kit?

I would still only keep one fish, even if they are fancy goldfish they still need quite a bit of swimming space and produce lots of waste.

otos grow to like 1.25 inches but they do prefer to be in groups.

Adult cardinals are about 5cms I believe. I think as long as you get your clown loach out it should be fine but I wouldnt really add more fish unless its 2-3 more cories.

You can still get an ammonia reading if you have nitrates. This just means your tank isn't completely cycled.

I prefer the hand held ones over the magnet ones and you can use more force to get the algae off. Also I doubt the plants are causing the algae, as they use the same nutrients as the algae and will probably be suppressing its growth.

False neon tetra disease maybe? I can see the white patches, maybe your fish is just pretending to be ok.

i wouldn't get rid of the clown pleco as they don't get that big like 4 inches I think. Also that rule is pretty much useless just like the feed for 3 mins rule.When the loach starts to get bigger I imagine itll produce quite a bit of waste.

Try feeding them a food with calcium in it to help them rebuild their shell also a rise in pH would probably help their shell but a decrease to below 7.0 might make weakened.

I've seen people use the clay ones, but I'd give them a good rinse just to be sure nothing weird gets into your tank. Don't know about the fibreglass ones though.

Well I can see why that'd be a problem. I think most people think plecos are all herbivores/omnivores you might want to take it back to the LFS if you wanted one to eat algae.
