Sadly, anyone can tell you what you want to hear. After you give up your fish, they can do as they please - No matter how cruel or simply out of ignorance. Same as any other give away...Dogs, cats, etc.   IMO for your peace of mind, I'd just keep him. What's one more fish?  :)
