    Trying To Breed My Cories

Cories can go hyper when meds are in the tank - not because they're happy, cos its stressing them... You sure it is whitespot? - when i first had sand,i thought the corys had whitespot,it was in fact grains of sand stuck to them

    Trying To Breed My Cories

Very difficult if they're youngsters, has you know males are smaller & slender, another give away is they tend to sit flat,i.e bellies are usually flat compared to the round females.

    Trying To Breed My Cories

They look mostly females to me also,i can't see the back one though, they are very stocky with rounded curved bellies which is usually the give away :)

    Are Sterbai Slow Growers?

Its possible, they could of been stunted early on,this will keep them smaller than average or could just be slow developers... Your temperature was okish at 26 ,Sterbai's prefer and can tolerate higher temperatures 26- 30 degrees, but has you have bronze i wouldn't go over 26 degrees :good:

    Nice Cory Suggestions

Ideally you should expand on the corys you do have, upping the numbers of each group - some recommend minimum 6 to each species. What size tank do you have?

    Panda Corys Barbells

Barbels vary in length, but short barbels is often, poor water quality, poor diet, substrate which is sharp, gravel being a main culprit, especially corys digging into it can cause them to wear down. Most of my pandas have long barbels and they're mixed sexes.

    Which Cory Is This?

Pygmies can be quite hard to get hold of at LFS, although maidenhead aquatics(uk) do get them in from time to time, habrosus dont usually get much bigger than 1.5 inches. How many do you have?

    Cory Fry Surpirse!

Congrats on your wee fry :good: I wouldn't worry about getting liquid food, thats only for newly hatched fry,and TBH it does tend to foul the water, its survived this long, just crush up some food and pop it in the tank :)

Changing to sand isn't that hard :) I didnt remove any of my fish for the change over, i prewashed the argos sand over and over so the water runs clear, best to do this a bit at a time,i put sand in a bucket around quarter full, then just keep churning it over, tipping the water out and...

    Trying To Breed My Cories

Unfortunately raising corys is more complex than rearing livebearers, livebearers tend to thrive without having to do to much for them except feed & w/c's ,i suppose thats why theres so many of them around   Basically when i feed my fry,has mentioned earlier i use a turkey...

Awww so sorry to hear you lost them  It is a downer when they dont make it, i went through the same things has a beginner, even up to the last batch i've had fry die,it is hard to rear them, keeping an eye on water quality, not overfeeding, keeping the sand clean. I've learnt over time several...

    Trying To Breed My Cories

2ft tank would be best if you got the room... length is better has corys will have more floor space, it is a time consuming game and like you said 6 months minimum before lfs would take them obviously dependant what size they are also... Ideally if you want to bred them, then putting the corys...
