Would Cherry Shrimp Be Ok With A Bettta

I have had about 2 deaths in my Cherry Shrimp tank when my betta was in there. He only hunted for the smaller one, and ignored the larger females.

I Am Very Very Very Worried, Found A Critter In My Tank.

Wow! That was quite the read! Can't believe you had 5 of them in your tank, makes me even more scared! I dreamt about the thing last night, in my dream there were shrimplets trying to hide from the monster! :O   And this morning I woke up, and went on the hunt for it, but instead, I found... A...

I Am Very Very Very Worried, Found A Critter In My Tank.

I have Neon Tetras but I don't think they will do anything to this critter. I do have a Betta in Quarantine that is about to go back in there.. But the Betta will also be a predator to the shrimp, which I don't mind, I do mind this annoying damselfly nymph tho. It is really ugly!

I Am Very Very Very Worried, Found A Critter In My Tank.

Hi! First of all, I hope you all have had a great christmas and all..   As some of you might know, I've had a berried cherry shrimp for the past 3-4 weeks, and I was looking at the tank yesterday, to try and find any fry, and suddenly I see something moving and falling on my center piece rock.  ...

Switching From Hob To Sponge Filter?

I usually dose my ferts when doing my water changes.. I do have a pre-filter sponge as well since my corydoras or CPDs would fit in the filter pretty easily! I noticed that when I clean it, the flow is a lot stronger!   I don't have an issue with the sound the water makes (aquaclears are silent...

Switching From Hob To Sponge Filter?

I'm using currently dosing flourish, root tabs and will start excel when I get it from the mail.   Thank you all for your answers, I still have one question.. What kind of filter is the most silent, in any kind of filtration? Is it possible to have a canister filter but have not much flow?

Switching From Hob To Sponge Filter?

I'm using Aquaclear 70, with two sponge media in it, and bio-mass ceramic pellets..   And I'm not sure what I'm going to use for other filter, I was planning on using sponge filter to reduce flow and noise. Main concern is the noise.

    Breeding Neons

I heard they are a bid hard to breed as they need really specific conditions! I think they are fun fish as well, when they are really healthy they shine like diamonds.

Switching From Hob To Sponge Filter?

I might be confused about how sponge filters work but I was under the impression that they did not use biomass nor normal media? I might be wrong?

Switching From Hob To Sponge Filter?

Hi there! I have noticed that my nitrate levels will never go above 5 PPM, having so much plants in my tank must help a lot in filtering all of this.. I am wondering, how would I go to switching from an HOB filter to a sponge filter?   I'm wanting to do this to reduce the current in my tank as...

Why Did My One Of My Pygmy Corydoras Die?

I'm having issues feeding my cories as well, My tetras go crazy for all the food and leave little to nothing for them. They even go for the pellet I sink to the cories.

Help My Boy! He's My Favorite!

Please have your water tested! I'm thinking your fish might be poisonned from something (Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate) Clamped fins is a sign that something is wrong, and as soon as you see this, you should ask yourself what's going on!   As Blondie said, ask for the numbers from your LFS, don't...

    How To: Scale-Less Heaters

I have two heaters and even if they have a scale it took me 1 full week of getting them to complement each other.   My goal is that they take turns in heating the water, making the water temperature the same everywhere.     I did about the same thing than you to get the temperature right, but...

    Betta Fish Water Emergency

I'm happy you are not another one of those people who think that Betta fish only live for a year. You have been given great advice and I'm proud that you will give your Betta a better tank!   If you want to, and I suggest it, once you get the tank, you might also look for low light plants, such...

    So Many Questions

If you really have no money for a test kit, you could get a Seachem ammonia alert and base your cycling on it. Be warry tho as some of those are faulty sometimes. I got one which would stay on the alert level even tho if I tested water with my API, I had 0 ammonia.   It's always good to double...

    Are Rummynose Tetras Bullies

Yeah, rummy nose should be kept in MINIMUM 24 inches long, and that's bare minimum. Seeing them swim in my 36 long makes me think They be even better in 48.

    Are Rummynose Tetras Bullies

Well, with those rummy nose and the rams, I'm thinking you are at the limit stocking, maybe I'm wrong. Also in such a small tank it's normal for tetras to nip at other species as they most likely always see the ram. Anything that can break the line of sight will be a good addition to your tank...

A Mini-Cycle If Too Much Fresh Water Added?

True again, mulm would be only good when accumulating around the roots of the plants..   Aquapit, caring for plants is actually not at all difficult, you can start with really easy plants like anubias, mosses and ferns, they require almost nothing in order to thrive and they help a lot in...

anubias and java moss will do great without any high tech stuff I personally use seachem flourish but I'm sure you can use other alternatives.. http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Flourish.html   You don't need a lot tho since you don't have a lot of plants :P

    Missing Ghost Shrimp

To answer your question, the exoskeletons might be their moult, but as they moult they also have a softer shell, making it easier for others to prey on them. Your DG most likely had a go at this time, by harassing the shrimp until it dies. I've watched my betta trying to eat big shrimp and he's...
