Dav Mads, well, the only fish I've personally seen among mangroves are the ones you've seen in my photo (Fiji; no idea what they are), and some species of puffer (in Brazil). The rest of the occasions, visibility was zero. Plus, they hide very well, in that mess! Lots of crabs, of course! Still...

Hej Mads, in ONE of those pics you can see some 4-5 fish hiding in the muddy waters amongst the roots. But apart from that, most of the time I've been diving, so PLENTY of fish!   And, forgot to mention: the mangrove seedlings there were way to big to consider bringing some back home... Sorry.

Indeed! I believe they can be fed crickets or other small insects. Have you tried that?   I'm in Fiji right now, looots of mangroves here. I hope the place I'm going tomorrow will allow access, and perhaps collection of some seedlings.  If not, I'll at least enlarge my photo collection!

You set a separate reservoir/sump, with two pumps connected to timers: 4 times a day one of them moves the water from one into the other tank.   That's one way.

Indeed. Light is the clue. Thanks levahe. For the time being I simply set back the plexiglas cover where fake mangrove leafs hang from, and that has already had a visible effect. Next step will probably be to raise up the whole lid & lights, since the mangroves will soon need more aerial space...
