I'll definitely get fry, she's produced a significant amount in the past few months. I'm somewhat more interested in this hybrid than the others, so I'll probably save a few for myself.
I don't generally support hybrids, so they won't leave my house.
Wasn't an expected outcome, as I have other vieja in there – including a v. zonatus she's spawned with 6 times now, but apparently the Texas was irresistible! 😂
My friend and I were finished work early today and figured we'd hit up a couple of nurseries today. Turned out that there was a 30% off sale at the one local to my house!
I scored 10 western hemlock that were potted together, a pacific arbutus, and a decent jade cutting for $65!! The hemlock...
Paratilipia Polleni is what I'm referring to. We bring in a batch of 50 every couple of months to wholesale out for approximately $8 to stores, who then sell from $20-40 depending.
Right now I have a three beacon, vampire, thin bar King Tiger, gold vampire, queen arabesque, sunshine, blue phantom, flash, lineola, and a cactus... I traded all my loaches in for a small fortune and splurged 😅
This is my 6 gallon Fluval Edge that I removed the lid from. It's become a home for oddball fish that get shipped in to us at the shop. There's a wildcaught farlowella that has a bizarre short body mutation, two different individuals from seperate dwarf loach species, and a king betta.
I've got...
Housing turtles with fish isn't as problematic as the vast majority of hobbyist would say, it's matter of bad PR because of sliders, cooters, and the like.
Figured we could drum up discussion about the hobby in our lives.
I've been fishkeeping since 2008, so I'm in my 14th year. I have actually only worked in the aquarium trade, starting out in 2014 working at a local fish store, bouncing between stores as they went out of business till 2017 when...
Electric catfish
North-American Burbot
Whichever species of Sea Robin this is:
Toss up between a crocodilian and an elephant trunk snake or other aquatic snake species.
All my tanks are open top, as long as you have sufficient surface agitation you won't develop a biofilm. There are specific riparium planters you can buy, but you can use hang on back filters, breeder boxes, or any other container - you could also just let the roots hang into the water column if...
Terrestrial plants still utilize ammonia/ammonium. They aren't as effective at storing ammonium versus nitrate, as in excess it can cause cell damage; however pothos can generally utilize it efficiently enough to avoid this, unless the concentration is high enough to kill the aquatic...
Not much left to be said, everyone has summarized the situation nicely.
The petshop hasn't set you up for success, selling you inappropriately sized fish, too many fish, and too quickly. I think with this situation you should do a little Google sleuthing on species you like while finishing...
A m. argenteus and m. regani. There were plenty of argenteus in stock, but only a single regani whose dorsal fin has some permanent damage. Happy with the two fish regardless though!
