    Lighting Choices

If you do your weekly water changes you shouldnt have to worry about water loss due to evaporation. I have half glass top under my open back canopy and i lose about a half inch of water per week in my 55gal. The only reason i run half my glass tops is to make it so my clowns cant jump out if...

    New Filter

I did use the nitrate removing media for a couple months. If you follow instructions and charge it weekly it really works. After they were gone they never went back up either. So between that and weekly 20%changes it did work good. Just thought i would share. Good luck with the new filter.

New Larger Freshwater Fish And Aquariums

clown loaches are great. Your tank would be a good size for them at 125gal. They get rather large (google clown loach and you will see) and they need a good flow in the tank. They wouldnt do well with the more agressive fish though. They are very playful and would be harassed a lot. I am going...

    My Fish

I think if you cropped number five and used that as your avatar, and cropped the picture of your tank so it was just the tank for your signature. I think that would be my choice :) Really like your fish!!

    Can I Use Beach Sand?

I have read some bad opinions on play sand and I thought maybe beach sand would be a safer choice. Sounds like more work than necessary so I will just have to go with play sand when i'm ready. Thanks for your help. Oh and its a freshwater lake krazyKuhli. Just looked it up its only $4 for a...

Any Help Stocking 10Gal With A Chinese Algae Eater. Please?

I have given my chinese algae eater a new home in a ten gallon tank all by himself after watching him beat on my clown loaches and black ghost knife. I want to put something in there with him because i'm sure hes lonely now after being with all the other fish in the tank. Any ideas on what would...

Chinese Algae Eaters Beautiful And A Right Pain In My Big Toe.

I bought one a year and a half ago, he was great until the last few months. I also have a black ghost knife, four clown loaches, a common pleco, 5 skirted tetra, and 3 glow fish. A couple months ago i noticed that one of my black skirt tetras tailfins were half gone, and I didnt know what was...

    My Lil Ghost Knife

They are awesome fish. I have had blackie for about a month now and he is just awesome! I feed him bloodworms by hand and if I stick my hand in the tank to do anything he comes right to me and wants me to "hold" him. I have read a lot about them being very shy and hiding most of the day but I...

Its so funny to walk up to the tank and there laying on there side under the rock, shoot up like you barged in and look at you like what the heck?? LOL The pleco is huge compared to blackie. I rescued him from a home of neglect, living with a pacu that was eating him alive! He mainly stays in...

I have done my research on the clowns. I do intend to get more, but I want to make sure I have the proper sized tank for that many fish of that size. I think they are wonderful fish, Very outgoing and entertaining to watch. My biggest one is about 2.5" and the others are between 1" and 1.5"...

I have two of the black skirt tetra, and 3 of the white skirt tetra, so a total of 5. I dont even think they could even fit the tail in there mouth. As much was gone it had to be the chinese algae eater. He chases the clowns now. Even the big one. So he has to go. The tetras rarely go under the...

Thank you for your input, was thinking it was the chinese eater. Seen him chasing Blackie this morning. Sad about it because he has such a personality. He's a Chinese Sucking Loach. The name is deceptive as they're not actually loaches! They are fantastic algae eaters though! They can be slightly aggressive though when they mature, depends on the individual fish. Mine was very aggressive, especially towards my poor betta. He kept the tank...
