In Alittle Over My Head This Time

As soon as fish spawn things change. They become more territorial and protective. If it really had been a 100 gallon tank you might have been able to create zones for them, but this is much harder (though not impossible) in a 55 gallon tank.    What have you done so far to ease the aggression...

    Could Someone Id This?

I'm not sure which plant you are asking about. The tall bladed plant looks like a Vallisneria species.

    Help Buying Aquaponic Farm (Optional)

Just a quick note, as you may have noticed this thread has been locked.  As a forum we don't allow users to ask for donations or funding.  We really want the forum to be about asking questions, getting answers, and making friends. We find that money can get in the way of those goals.

    Betta Questions

There are actually many fish that go well with betta. Like Hunterprey I've kept Harlequins with one as well.

This all might be an issue with the mobile skin. I will see if there's anything wrong there.

Probably. If you can't see that toolbar there's got to be a browser or platform specific reason.

You should see the emoticon selector as shown in the image above. If you don't then there's some setting in your browser that is restricting Javascript.

    Africans Or Barbs

If you can upgrade, do. I'm just not a fan of corner tanks. I think their shape is limiting. Barbs don't care about substrate really, they don't spend time there. As long as the substrate isn't going to alter the water parameters to something they don't like, they will be fine with your choice...

    Normal Or Just Odd?

It's possible that the fish had a firm bowl movement that simply resembled the worm.    As for the cory, they are "supposed" to do that, but they can. the gills are openings that go all the way through.    It doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about.

    Africans Or Barbs

That's what my gold barbs did. They moved within their own circles and left others alone. The only exception to that is they would eat any cherry shrimp that would fit into their mouth and they could catch. But the same is true of cichlids.

    Africans Or Barbs

Welcome. Fun is, of course, subjective. I prefer barbs myself. Especially gold barbs. I think they are a lovely fish with very interesting behavior in a shoal. I have successfully kept them in a community tank as well so they mixed with tetra, molly, platy, and cory without issues in a 30 gallon...

    Water Evaporation In Tanks

Yes, it's quite normal. My 210 gallon tank evaporated at least a gallon a day, more in the summer.    On my marine tanks I use an automatic top off system to replace the evaporation. This is vital in a marine tank as evaporation alters the salinity but in a FW tank it's not as important. But...

Search Engine Going To The Wrong Place

It's likely an issue on the user's computer rather than the site, especially since it's browser specific. However, just be on the safe side we'll check it out here. But often browsers get hijacked. It's a very common "virus" that users get. Sometimes it's a bit of malware, or others a virus but...

    Nano Saltwater Reef Tank?

    While it is true that a 10 is better than a 5, I'm not recommending a 10 either. :)

    Nano Saltwater Reef Tank?

It's certainly something you can do. But the smaller the reef tank the more difficult it is to keep and the fewer creatures are available to keep. Below is a picture of a 5.5 gallon reef I kept.      It was a great tank and I loved it. But, this was done after I had a lot of experience with...

    10 Gallon Saltwater Aquarium?

You certainly can. However, small marine tanks are the most difficult ones to keep. Nutrient buildup, trace element maintenance, and salinity fluctuation are much harder to manage. What might be a small change in another tank takes over quickly in a nano.    Also, there are few marine fish that...

Where To Buy Cheap Red Cherry Shrimp?

I've had good luck getting high quality red cherry shrimp from Ebay. Like Eagles says, you have to be careful, that you aren't getting just any old shrimp, be picky. But I did find that the price was good. Normally I buy only locally but this was during a time when none of the local shops had a...

Marine Leds In Fresh Planted Tank?

That's going to depend on the plants of course. If you had a PAR meter you could test. But experimentation should work as well. The manufacturer might have some PAR readings for you at various settings.

Marine Leds In Fresh Planted Tank?

I've used marine lights for plants before. The blue was never an issue but the brightness can be depending on the plant. My lights are controllable so I can dim them but if you can't you might have to make decisions on plants, plant placement, shading etc.

Switching Small Gravel To Sand - Suggestions On How

That's a very nice gesture!    Now on to the fish stuff!    I'm in the camp that removes my fish then my gravel when I'm making a change. There will be an impact on bacteria but the filtration media should be enough to prevent a full on cycle.    As for cleaning it...I keep mostly marine tanks...

Switching Small Gravel To Sand - Suggestions On How

Before we get too off topic, let me interject...the best action is to type in your own dialect and if others have questions about meaning let them ask or use Google to discover the meaning. No need to debate language. Even in parts of the US words mean slightly or drastically different things...

    Saltwater Newb Questions

I think if you are keeping with freshwater those are good alternatives. If she has to do salt then I recommend keeping the banded coral shrimp with fast growing soft corals like xenia, cloves, green star polyps, or the like and having pajama or banggai cardinals as the fish. They are mid to...

    Saltwater Newb Questions

You should know that coral banded shrimp are very aggressive shrimp. They will kill any other shrimp in the tank, worms, snails, snip at corals (especially anemone), and once they get large enough have been known to take small fish as they sleep for a nice meal. It's a beautiful shrimp for sure...

    Esha 2000

Personal preference of course but yes, I like them with their own kind and bottom dwellers. I've done them in mixed tanks a few times and everyone is just happier when they aren't around.

    Esha 2000

I love angelfish but I stopped keeping them for that reason. Even when I had angels that weren't all that aggressive there's just something intimidating to the other, smaller fish, about a deep keeled species.

I know how you feel. I hate losing fish, or shrimp, or corals. I even hate getting rid of my extra macro algae from my sump because I know it has amphipods living in it.
