Can you convert "drops" to teaspoons?

It's not what I would have chosen, but someone bought it for me so I guess I might as well use it. I'll get some SeaChem Prime when this runs out.

WHAT DID YOU GET FOR CHRISTMAS? I got socks!

I got a 10g tank(yay!), a book about betta fish, a little bottle of water conditioner, some betta food(it's flakes though), a fish net thing, like four API tests, an ammonia alert thing, one of those betta hammock fake leaves, and a $15 PetSmart gift card. My family apparently all know that I'm...

Can you convert "drops" to teaspoons?

So my water conditioner says 10 drops per gallon, but I have a 10g tank and I don't really want to measure out a hundred drops, so is there some equivalent in teaspoons or something?

Everything I am going to get-- am I missing anything?

Thank you so much, @Essjay and @Colin_T ! That's all very helpful!

    Gravel or sand?

I watched a couple of Girl Talks Fish's videos about sand in planted tanks. Also, I really do prefer how it looks.

    Gravel or sand?

Okay, thanks everyone! I think I'm going to go with sand, but I'll pick something that's on the larger-grained side so that siphoning will be easier.

    Gravel or sand?

I'm conflicted. I prefer the look of sand, but I could live with some fairly small gravel. The plants I've been considering are dwarf sag, ambulia, and water sprite(I'll probably plant one in the substrate and float the other one). As a beginner, it seems rly weird to put plants in gravel. Like...

Everything I am going to get-- am I missing anything?

Oh... idk. I'm not sure how a light would work with other types of lids. What type of lid would you recommend if I am using this type of light( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T9Y7LQ4/?tag=ff0d01-20 ). Oooooooof that's a huge link. (Edit: nvm it condensed itself)

Everything I am going to get-- am I missing anything?

Ok, so, I have a 10g tank that I am going to have as a planted tank with a betta fish(and maybe one or two snails). I am going to silent cycle it. These are the things that I am planning on getting. Mesh tank lid Light Light timer/dimmer 50w heater Thermometer Sponge filter Airline tubing Air...

    Planted/silent cycle question

oh, well I was planning on planting it in the substrate. I could let them float, though. Will it make a difference?

    Planted/silent cycle question

So, sometime soon I'll be cycling a 10g tank. I want to planted/silent cycle it, and I'm wondering how many plants I would need to get. I've been considering an ambulia, a couple water sprites, and some dwarf sagittaria. This is my first time, so idk how much of the tank that would fill up. Is...

    A SONG FOR TFF

That fish tank better be pretty big 😆

Would these plants work together in a 5g?

Well, turns out it will actually be a 10g.
  15. CuriousFins

    Does this work?

Okay, lol. I didn't buy it, a family member gave it to me for Christmas because I'm interested in getting a fish.

Would these plants work together in a 5g?

Okay, I'll probably make another thread in the cycling subforum about this.

Would these plants work together in a 5g?

Can I also throw a hornwort or 2 in there for a silent cycle? I would probably throw it away(carefully) after the cycle.

    Cheap places to buy plants/driftwood?

Are there any cheap and reliable online places to get plants and driftwood/decor? Driftwood is pricey.
  21. CuriousFins

Would these plants work together in a 5g?

So I'm going to get a 5g tank and I want to put a bunch of live plants in it. I've been doing some research and these are the plants I'm interested in. My question is, would these plants all be okay in the same water conditions, and would they all even fit in a 5g? Water sprite Dwarf sagittaria...

    Plant ideas for a 5g?

So I'm planning on starting a tank sometime in January or February. It will probably be a 5g(maybe a 10g, but probably 5), and will just have one betta in it. I will planted/silent cycle it. Any suggestions for what plants to put in a small planted tank?

    Stocking question

Oh, really? Okay. I read that neon tetras were fine with a betta. (In hindsight, I should've known better than to trust random "fish care" websites.) I really wanted just a betta anyways, but I saw an ad for a betta and 2 tetras in a 7.5g and my mind went off in the scenario of what I would have...

    Stocking question

Out of curiosity, can you put 6 neon tetras and a betta in a 10 gallon, or would it have to be a 15g?

Betta fish care; how to make sure I'm not missing anything?

So, I'm currently fishless, but hoping to get a betta sometime "soon"(whatever unit of time that means). And I'm trying to get educated on fish care, specifically betta fish care, but I've realized that fish care is definitely more complicated than the bird and mammal care that I'm used to...

Frequency and amount of water changes? Hypothetical scenario

I'm not so much planning as wanting to plan to get a betta. So I'm not sure if I would house it in a 10 or 5 G. I was asking if the amount of water you changed weekly would change if it was a smaller tank.
  27. CuriousFins

Frequency and amount of water changes? Hypothetical scenario

Thanks for all your answers! Would it be different in a 5 gallon(and would that be big enough)?

Frequency and amount of water changes? Hypothetical scenario

Alright, so I do not own any fish currently, but I'm trying to learn(and wow, is there a lot to learn). I've seen LOTS of different information about water changes(how frequent to do the, and how much water to change). Imagine an aquarium(which is probably similar to what I would have if/when I...
