Are There Any Gouramis Peaceful Enough For Fancy Guppies?

From what I've heard dwarf cichlids are both more aggressive and less tolerant of hard water than dwarf Gourami.   I've decded it will be a single male honey dwarf or nothing.   I read a couple sites that said that honeys can toerate up to 8.0 ph, has anyone had success in keeping thm in water...

    Foolproof 5G For Kids

+1 on the single betta. African clawed frogs are pretty tough too, but even one of them by itself might be pushing the stocking limit in a 5 gal.

    Stocking Order

Imo the reputation cardinals and neons get for being delicate comes from two main scenarios: People buying neoons that have "neon tetra disease" People trying to keep them in ph thats too high.

How To Quickly Season Green Driftwood?

Or maybe just forgetting the big ones and alternately baking and boiling the smaller pieces?

    Helloeverybody, Setting Up New Tank

Hmm, then why does the calulator recommend 5ppm? (confused):/ although I think I will change some of the water, if for no other reason than the fact that the API chart goes up like this: 0, .25, .5, 1.0., 2.0, 4.0, 8.0 so really with a reading between 4.0 and 8.0 I have no way of knowing whether...

    Prodigal Fishkeeper

Hmm, 5 gallons is pretty restrictive :/   Let's see,   Maybe one betta and one apple/ mystery snail comes in orange, albino/pink, zebra and regular or one betta and one african DWARF frog (not too sure about compatibility here, the beta might steal all the food) or One dwarf frog and one mystery...

    Feeding Busynose Pleco

Also, I'd boil the wood first if you use found wood to kill any disease organisms, this will lso make the wood sink better.

How To Quickly Season Green Driftwood?

I was hired to limb up a very large live oak recently and wound up with several beautiful pieces of wood that would look perfect in my aquaruim, but the problem is that they were living on the tree up until about three days ago, and an even bigger problem is that some of them are too big to...

    Kenyi

Hello, I'll tell you what I know and then lt you fom your own opinion, OK? :) KENYI MBUNA require very hard water and are probably one of the  more aggressive fish for thier size in the hobby. Rubberlip pleco are exllent algae eaters, strictly vegetarian and need cool water to do well. Clon...

Are There Any Gouramis Peaceful Enough For Fancy Guppies?

Thanks everybody, but I think both the fish and I would be better off if I choose fish that like the water paremeters I have rather than trying to change them.

    How Many Trumpet Snails

What size is your tank? I used to have a clown Plec that ate a couple trumpets a day, but I wouldn't put one of them in anything less than a 15 gal.

Need Help With The Name Of This Fish

is it very tiny, as in less than an inch? If so, I'm leaning toward ruby tetra. a happy one has a strong red tint throughout, but lonely (strongly schooling fish) or stressed ones are about that color

    Helloeverybody, Setting Up New Tank

Thanks, that makes me feel better about my choices.   I've decided to update my stocking list (happily, most of the originals will do fine in 8.0 PH.) 10 Corydorsa hastatus (Tail-spot pygmy cory) I've done some research on these, and it seems that they can tolerate a slightly higher PH than...

Are There Any Gouramis Peaceful Enough For Fancy Guppies?

The api test kit just arrived in the mail today, and it hows that the tap PH is about 8.2 and the aquarium, (which has a good-sized hunk of driftwood) is about 8.0 ...:/ While there are a few Gouramis that would survive in PH like that, I don't know of any smallish ones that would be happy with it.

    Helloeverybody, Setting Up New Tank

Well, my API test kit arrived in the mail today and things just got a bit "harder" with the stocking list. Tap ph: about 8.2 and my Aquarium, which has water that's been soaking with a good size hunk of driftwood for 4 days, has  Ph: 8.0 ammonia: between 4 and 8 ppm (Don't worry, fishless cycle)...

    Helloeverybody, Setting Up New Tank

Thank you For the welcome. :) Actually, I'm currently looking for a school of very small >1"(25mm) fish to replace the pygmy cory, but most of the "tinies" (Including Mosquito Rasboras) seem to be pretty intolerant of water that's even slightly above neutral.           Hmm, I like the look of...

Are There Any Gouramis Peaceful Enough For Fancy Guppies?

DOH! forgot to mention I'd also like some ghost and red cherry shrimp. From What I've seen online, the pearls and Dwarves are a definite no-go for shrimp, and the honeys are borderline.   Are there any smaller Gourami that are fairly easy care? I like the look of licorice gourami, but they seem...

Are There Any Gouramis Peaceful Enough For Fancy Guppies?

I'm currently doing livestock selection for a 29 gal (110 litre) aquarium.   My sister insists on fancy guppies, and I Really want a Gourami.   Are there any gouramis that can be trusted with fancy guppies, or is one of us going to be dissapointed?

    Helloeverybody, Setting Up New Tank

Hello everybody, My name is Jeremy.  I've kept fish off and on for years learning by trial and error,  (mostly error XC)   Recently I moved which caused my 29 gal to crash.....   I'm starting over now and have just begun a fishless cycle (man, I wish I had info like this when I first started...
