safe in what way? it could affect the PH a bit, but other then that nothing really, soak the rocks in a big bucket of water for a few days before putting them in your tank....no soap or chemicals....just water

cant really tell by looking at egg layers, some signs to look for in angelfish..... two angelfish will start hanging out together in the same spot in the tank....when any other fish approach this area they will get aggressive and chase them away.....angelfish will also "peck" at the surface...

the fish was not fed a good quality diet and/or was kept in sub par water conditions at birth, my guess is water conditions, this is why its so important to feed fry good food and keep a constant eye on water conditions, its also a reason why many fry are culled not long after born, if it was...

Platties are very active curious fish who should be constantly swimming when healthy, if they are staying in one spot or hiding they are either stressed or sick, or both..... pregnancy does not normally affect their behaviour at all, and would not be the cause of this

not trying to sound insulting here.....but, do you understand the cycling process?.....do you understand how bacteria in your filter lives and is beneficial?

you don't really have any other option then to let it cycle, and hope your fish survive it.....don't clean or touch your filter.....leave it alone.....change 50% water every 2-3 days

it sounds like you have killed off your bacteria one way or another, and now your tank is trying to cycle again

plants and UGF can live quite happily together....no real reason to get rid of it, if it was me, i would keep the UGF and get rid of the cannister but if your heart is set on getting rid of it, the answer is yes.....your cannister would be sufficient....if maintained properly

in a tank that big i would not use one heater.....i would use 2 or maybe even 3

how big is your tank?

a filter with only carbon in it is not doing anything.... you need a surface for bacteria to accumulate like foam

what type of filter are you using? what else is in there besides your carbon?
