I'm amazed that there are so many big tank hobbyists that can support that species as a pet. Or are these mainly in garden ponds...if so remind me to never go a swimming in your ponds...LOL

In terms of the industry a wild/vs tank bred label may be something to catch on especially if the wild caught can be certified as sustainable and humane? I can imagine those fish as becoming a "artisan" and fetching a premium price , LOL we have such marketing for coffee etc....

Hey MCordia, I'm with you on the death thing....And I believe that's cuz the hobby is cheap...in terms of the pets themselves. Comparing a tank of danios to say a a dog or cat, many people don't have same sense of responsibility to fish as they would a dog or cat. Yes, I know it comparing...

I'm a simpleton and try to keep things easy...I just get warm water out of the tap, add my de-chlorinater and wait a few hours till the temp is about +- 5 degrees of the tank, others are much more particular especially if their water sources are unique. Me I live in SF and we have great tap...

Yes I've got lots of experience with that filter had 3 at one time. I still use one but with modifications. I stopped buying the disposable cartridges. Instead I have a load of now unneeded refillable cartridges. I DIY the refill cartridges to accommodate small bio balls and ceramic bio...

but if you can git one that comes with all the stuff that would be even better....remember it's not the tank that is expensive but the stuff you need for it...think lights, filter, substrate etc...so if you can score a "complete tank" that would be even better....

Angels are pretty amazing for what size fish they will eat given, that they seem to have tiny mouths...my angle have made gourmand meal of 4 neons a few months ago...

With more info you get a much more specific response, is the tank you want to use unheated? Seems to me glass shrimp may be your answer and besides they are cheap.

Got's ya...It's interesting with filters, when you think about it all filters: HOB, Canisters etc....basically do one thing...suck water in, move it through a media of some type and flush it back out. That water flows through the media, will get cleansed of the various tank detritus: poop...

Dumb question here..how big is your tank? is that why you need 2 canisters?
