its not a case of things being "safe" with him, a 120 litre tank is not big enough for a plec. They can grow upto 2 feet in length given the right conditions. I know you don't want to get rid of your fish, but for its own sake, you should.

any responsible lfs (there are some about) should know about the male-female ratios and not have sold you 1 female with 2 males... also, I'm pretty sure she'd be distressed if that was the case, as the males would be harrassing her.

+1 on knowing the sex of your platies... if you have 2 females and 1 male, then stick with those (you'll have lots of babies soon enough)... however if you have 3 males, and you throw in a female, she'll get harrassed to death (literally). As for bottom dwellers, corys are a big favourite, but...

I love my apples, but they don't half add a massive bioload. And they do poo like crazy. Fortunately, mine have never laid eggs. Mine eat whatever flake, peas, and algae wafers are left over from the fish and shrimp. I am terrified about one of them dieing though, so I may look to rehome them soon.

it's dry. Has been for a while now, so it's all ready to go. So, no it's not cycled. To be honest, it only had 1 dwarf gourami and 1 rummy nosed tetra in it, so the media wouldn't be cycled to full capacity anyway :(

if it is white spot/ich, then up your temp to 28C and keep the lights off for as long as possible. Upping the temp speeds up the life cycle of the ich, and although I'm not sure on why I was told to keep the lights out, it definitely worked for me. Willow
