If your water quality is good get 1 nerite per 10 gallons = algae on hard surfaces GONE!

FTR I think keeping Cherries with Bettas is a bad idea. I kept a male betta alone in a 60l with 9 cherries and he terrorized the lot (they stayed in hiding), and after I removed him came out. I also think he succeeded in eating 3 (or at least preventing them from feeding and dying of starvation).

Don't forget that Sev's will eat lots of plants-destroyed my Hygrophilas before I rehomed. Nice fish though!

You want around 1W/Liter for every 10F above ambient that you want your water raised. Also, get two heaters rather than one big one, your tank will thank you when they fail, which they always always do eventually.

Just want to add that if these shrimp are walking around dabbing their fans into the gravel that means they are starving! Better get them to a bigger/mature tank, start putting food in to the water column or on the gravel for them!

Just wanted to point out that at least one hobbyist has observed spixi's eating the dreaded hydra. So good little guys. Also, babies will eat soft plants. Adults not so much. So watch out for that!

I have seen 3 BH's in a 14gal with other tetras which were very aggressive to the other fish. They also go berserk like pirana at feeding time, so you can keep these with slow feeders like pencilfish as they will slowly starve. One cool game by BH's used to play was "how's got the pellet" races...

I just want to chime in here. I keep an endler and I must say it is probably the most active fish I have ever seen. It literally goes berserk all day long in the tank and is very aggressive toward other fish, some of them at least 4x bigger than it itself. Anyway, he is a cool little guy.
