Hi,

Anyone know if a severum can be kept with the following, neon tetra, cory's, cherry/golden barbs, chinese algae eaters, guppy's, danios?

Thanks

i have a sev with neon tetras, corys, plecs, rainbows, angels, loaches etc

no problems for the last 2 months and its about 3inchs

Shouldnt really be a problem Sevs are usually pretty placid but as with all cichlids some can have a bit of a temper. The only one I would be concerned about is the CAE as these guys tend to develop a taste for the slime coating from other fish and the deeper body of the severum would be a target for it.

If you are already keeping guppies and neons then perhaps it could work although guppies would prolly prefer harder ,warmer, water than the neons. But I would not purposely buy guppies to place in the tank without quarantine period for the guppies and or neons for that matter. Due to those interested in mass producing guppies and neons rather than producing quality,, Many are weak when purchased and could possibly introduce bacterial pathogens to your main tank. Course this could apply to any fishes, but guppies and neons in my view, seem particularly to be of weaker strains than say the barbs you mention.

Don't forget that Sev's will eat lots of plants-destroyed my Hygrophilas before I rehomed. Nice fish though!
